I'm currently an unwilling city person, and I HATE IT. I get so irritated by people and their shallow interests and I'm very noise sensitive to loud music and cars. I'm pretty sure I was designed for the country life, my best friends are animals. I'm in love with my dog and chickens, and I dream of having horses, goats, alpacas, and everything else in between.

Actually, the agricultural revolution, if anything, made life a lot harder for us as a species and continues to set us up for failure time and time again - what with the successfulness of the agricultural lifestyle relying on the vagaries of forces beyond our control. If history has taught us anything, it's that our hunter-gatherer ancestors had a better quality of life with a more varied diet and a better chance of survival due to having a stronger sense of community, and more reliable methods of gathering resources. Having said that, I do believe that there is a certain simplicity to a rural lifestyle that is enviable, especially for those who have become jaded by the hustle and bustle of city life.
@laneclaypool80055 жыл бұрын
I see a lot of people saying they are city folk and want to live in the country. If you move to the country, don't try to bring all the nuisance city laws with you. Adjust to our way of living and you'll find out it is a very good way of life with a lot of freedom.

@@meramec if they can't control their dog, and keep it on their property and it's causing you damage, you had every right to shoot it.
@annameyrath46065 жыл бұрын
@@meramec Actually here where I live you can go to prison when you shoot a dog. It doesn't matter why you shot it. Just threaten the owners of the dog to train it or get some livestock guardian dog that will protect your animals. It's actually that easy without killing anyone.
@meramec5 жыл бұрын
@@annameyrath4606 Where I am you can if they threaten/attack your livestock. We've told the owners, called animal control, and the county sherriff. They can't do anything and the owners refuse to train their dogs, they barely take care of their kids. They've had one dog get run over already and the other 2 have gotten very close. My grandparents have had their livestock dogs attacked by the neighbor's dogs.

There is something peaceful about chores. You make me think of a dog checking it's perimeter. I was a night nurse for many years. We did our rounds every hour to check on patient from one end to the other of the floor. I felt like a guard dog checking my perimeter. I knew which neon light buzzed a little louder, which patient made which noise, etc. There was something peaceful about it...when all was well.

Great Video! I am a former city person and now live in the country & I know that "city folk" have absolutely NO IDEA how how Farmers work and what they have to do every day to feed their families. I wouldn't trade my country life for one minute to go back to live in the city. Here, I walk barefoot all the time and never give a darn how fast people go by me in their cars and trucks. I speak slower and have no worries at all and love waking up every morning to the smell of manure vs the smell of gasoline and smoke in the city! Thank goodness, I had the chance to live out my life in the country!
