what does convection and conduction mean any1
@usu4095
@usu4095 2 жыл бұрын
convection is when a heat source heats a certain part of a liquid or gas. The particles in this region gain kinetic energy because it has been heated, so the distances in between the individual gases expand, As they expand, this part of the gas/liquid becomes less dense, meaning it starts to float over the top of the part of the gas/liquid that has not been heated as much and is denser. This is also how radiators work. As the less dense air/liquid on top gets cooler, (because the energy in its thermal energy store has been transferred to its surroundings like walls), it moves back down again and replaces the newly heated part of the liquid/gas which creates a convection current. Conduction is more common in solids. When you heated a certain part of a solid, the particles start to vibrate more and collide. These collisions transfer energy to the neighboring particles of the solid or other solids. Its harder for air to conduct because air already has lots of energy and is moving around a lot, it is harder for the energy to be transferred to its particles. I hope this helped, or at least a little.

actually, most of the time it's filled with a noble gas like Argon which has the lowest convection.

correct observation: 'peddle' means try to sell (something, especially small goods) by going from place to place. you can understand why he might have spelt it like that, since he uses 'pedal' in the verb form i.e. he pedalled, not he peddled
