I really do want this game to succeed, however I cannot deny that the game's launch marred its reputation. Many people point out that Coh2's launch was also plagued with issues but that isn't the kind of mistake a studio should make repeatedly. Here's hoping Steel Shepard is the update that gives this game the shot in the arm it needs to be successful.

@@Erc112I wish you were wrong but I fully agree. It would not be out of character for SEGA to have forced them to bring the game out too early; hence why the launch was not ideal. Still the fact Relic is committed to fixing this and not ditching the body in an alleyway is a good sign. The player base has slowly been recovering and this patch will hopefully be the one to bring more people in and back to it. Especially for at its core, despite everything that happened with the rushed release, there is a very enjoyable game here.

CoH1 had a few issues but was generally very well polished and rounded in the right places as if it was built by gamers for gamers❤️ CoH2 felt like they coasted off the success of CoH1 and nearly sunk the ship, but CoH1 was so successful that it kind of tided things over, with big tournaments and gameplays analysis was a bit of a town centre to discuss top matches and fun matches alike. It felt like some of the direction was no longer by gamers but a lot of it still was CoH3 feels like the entire team isn’t a gamer, it has no good direction, the art and graphics were offensively bad, corners cut everywhere in every way… this patch feels like they must have got some gamers in to advise and must have finally decided it’s worth listening to the feedback of the gamers that play it… so that’s very promising…….. if they can turn this ship around it will be fantastic and I’ll be right amongst it along side Mr AECoH here

I bought this game at release, it was horrific. Same as COH2 but COH2 ended up becoming the best RTS released. I'll be giving this a shot again when patch is released. People don't realise the realities of making games. They don't want to release it unfinished but if your company is going bankrupt, you don't have a choice. It's that simple. In the end, if it means that we still have a COH 3 then releasing it early is better if you can get your head around that.

Well, projects not being able to release on time, or have difficulty with deadline is understandable, but in that case, Relic should address it by either releasing it as Early Access or have an announcement to communicate the issues with the player base. That will definitely help manage the players expectation. We got a lot of non-communicative posts talking only about how great it is, which further frustrated the players about how they approach the problem. I think Jack Sparrow's saying about 'the problem isn't the problem. The attitude about the problem is' is quite fitting for this situation. I'm glad that they are still putting effort into the game, but the damage is still there. I wish it was handled more genuinely and less corporate bs.

Rejoin on disconnect was something that prevented my brother from playing coh2. If they implement it for 3 that'd be a huge plus. Also an option for ai start for someone who hops in late. I hate afks but they're a fact of coh matchmaking and adding an option to select initial tech buildings and have default ai capping to start along with an indicator for who is afk and an option for drop in manual opt in replacement players after 30 seconds would vastly improve things. Basically while you're matching until you enter in an input, an indicator shows on your name in the player list and the ai builds the units and buildings in the order you selected during matching while running ai play level based on rank cutoffs. After 30seconds pass with no input, a first come first served button shows up for people in the matching screen, matching queue, or observer screens with double the normal matching range that lets someone join into a match to replace the ai and shows them the tacmap info for the game as they're loading. After 60 seconds the range doubles again and after 90 it doubles one last time and remains available for the rest of the match in a, seperate queue called “ join in progress ”. First come first served, click and instant in. This prevents teams from getting massively penalized by afkers and gives people who are actually sitting there stuck in queue an option to play when they'll be matched in the larger range sooner or later anyhow based on their own time in queue.

Love the new resource point icons for sure, excited for the future of CoH3 because CoH was probably the best game of all time and its getting a bit rough to play. MP barely functions in CoH1 I used to play CoH with my Dad and my friends over LAN at home because we were lucky enough that my Dad worked on computers to use for rendering at work so we had like 4-5 PCs at home. A lot of people on my friends list are from the COH community. And quite a few of them are stuck on COH2. With my experience they get their teeth kicked in trying to come back to/learn COH3. Hopefully with this new patch and new content with maps and battle groups. People will start giving COH3 a chance again. I'd rather see COH3 get better than go back to playing COH2. A lot of people seem to forget that COH2 wasn't such a hot release via multiplayer either back in its day. Hopefully people leave their egos be hide and start to learn and play COH3 and support the future of the franchise. My only comment, is that I roll back to 2006, and just how much they got right. Its only my opinion - but in working through many of the games - I think the best looking version of all of the games -- Is the scrolled out (so thats a camera mod) - game COH1 - Modded Europe at war (I know the camera mod applies elsewhere, YMMV) - scrolled out the limits of the textures and goofy graphics are not really seen and everything looks good. And I really mean that. COH1 scrolled out looks really good. My opinion in COH2 and COH3 is I don't know what they did, or if they changed the engine, but the GFX are cartoonish and things like base buildings are joke level cartoon. So, I stick with COH1, and its mods. If people persist in making things worse than 2006 - given how much compute has advanced - then ok, but don't expect me to buy in.

CoH1 got a lot wrong in 2006-2008 btw, it broke replays for like 6 months in 2017, the mg vs. rifle balancing was terrible, they released Brits and PE and the balance was atrocious for a long time, the game ran terribly on pcs of the time. etc. etc.

I deleted the game back in March and never bothered to install it because none of the updates were satisfying enough for me. I bought the premium edition the day the game came out. After CoH 3 I couldn't psychologically go back to CoH 2. But after this update I will definitely give it another chance. It's clear that the game will get better, but the question is always "when". I hope this update will at least be something that can keep us in the game. I really want this game to succeed, but unrealistic positivity will only make it stagnate. :-(

What i am concerned about still, that i didn't see addressed in this video, is the FEEL of the game. The weak sounds, the slow projectiles, the ugly effects... My biggest gripe with this game was that it didn't feel at all visceral. In a tank fight in CoH2 you could hear massive muzzle explosions, tanks rocking from impacts, enginges revving etc. It was awesome. When i last played CoH3 it was like little lego figures driving around. Are relic working on this as well? Will it be adressed?

- Sounds have had several passes and additional tuning with this patch I believe. - projectiles and smoothness etc has had a big pass on this one, look at the grenade animation improvements in particular I think this is the patch for you if your gripes are aesthetic and "feel".

I re bought the game ( refunded ) and I am amazed by its current state , will be playing on patch day... Unfortunately, coh3 still has a big issue, I am from Costa Rica and my friends that play use coh2 in Spanish localization, coh3 lacks voice localization and that's a turn off for some friends, hopefully they can implement it some day.

If you count still not having a dedicated armored commander with tons of unique vehicles to play with. Or that we're only getting two paltry infantry centric battlegroups (two factions not getting ANY new options). No new story content or coop missions like CoH2. No new faction. Zero effort "expansion".

What's the point of releasing skins when the soldiers are tiny. And why do vehicles have so much color? Wouldn't it be preferable to keep the historical painting and identify them as the soldiers, through the icon?
