Cohabing is simple as long as you do enough research and provide plenty of hides/feeding areas. . I keep most of my breeders paired up year round with no problems and would like to start a Mourning Gecko / Dart Frog tank soon! 🤙

I was just recently at the smithsonian zoo, and they had a display cohabbing two kimberley rock monitors, a shingleback skink, and an ackie in an enclosure that was maybe 6'x3'x3'. The zookeeper said they've been together around 5 years. As someone who has kept both community cichlid tanks and reptiles individually, I find reptile people to be quick to assume cohabbing won't work out. I think having species inhabit different areas of the enclosure, different diets to minimize food competition, enough space, starting them young, and carefully monitoring temperaments goes a really long way in successful cohabbing. Im curious what others' thoughts are, though. I would love to cohab a kimberley rock monitor and a blue tongue skink in the future.

The thing is cohabbing should be done by expert keepers that know how to distinguish subtle signs of an animal declining or at the very least by a very well researched person.. So it can work but the safest thing is to house an animal individually someitmes

I seen some zoo cohabit monkey tail skinks and Indonesia blue tongue together, also shingleback and ackie monitor, rattlesnake and Gila monster and emerald skinks and blood python. Because they kept in large enclosure and plenty room for them.
