Aussies have had blueys pits for as long as theyve been kept, so no surprises there. Cohabbing is always a hot button issue. I personally wouldnt feel comfortable leaving pairs alone.having seen blueys lose limbs from a misplaced love bite. Nice to see a breeder with big enclosures.

Good point! I guess it’s surprising to us here in the states to keep them outside in Florida. But yeah it’s a little nerve wrecking to keep them together but worth trying

@@TikisGeckos I'd imagine Texas in some regions would have the same possibility, definitely saves on power and gives much better uvb than a bulb. Love your videos btw

I've kept baby Eastern's together and adults together all year round. I got Blotchies together right now and even got Northerns with 2 Easterns. If you keep your eye on which one is the aggressor if something does happen, then you can remove that bluey out and the others should be fine. Males want to spend time by themselves. I will only house gravid females by themselves and then move the female into something else once she has had the babies[ which I haven't had since 2018]. So I'm kinda over due for some cute babies and got at least one female who is gravid and when she has her babies, I will be keeping all the young. Once I have Melanistic and Albino Eastern Blueys again, I will try and breed them not for cash but for my own passion for these Eastern Blue Tongue Skink morphs. But that is a big 10 year project I will be working on.

Nice setups, but what is done for pests/insects? The majority of us don't live in South Florida, Kansas here. I'd be overrun with all kinds of insects in an outdoor enclosure in the thick of the summer months. We have ticks that mean AF too! No hate, David, just questions for the rest of us who'd like to keep BTS outside during the warmer months in the rest of the US

Great point! We can get ticks here in Florida as well. I think the main thing to keep in mind is that you have to watch and monitor your animals regularly. I know there’s a white powder that can be applied around the enclosures to help prevent external parasites. Forget what it’s called

Dose this count for shingleback skinks?(shingleback skinks are close relitives)

Is the outside humidity okay for northerns? I'm thinking about keeping my first future BTS outside in the summer bc we keep our house quite cold
@TikisGeckos11 ай бұрын
Just depends on where you live. You can also adapt your cage for it to not get wet or anything

@TikisGeckos do your northern skinks not mind the high humidity? I'm wondering because our summers in NY get quite humid too
