People hate on the Dave Matthews Band. The punchline to that joke is that they are still awesome and chillin. Everyone I know or have talked to have nothing to say other than good things. Their live shows are 50k people parties. If you can turn 50,000 people into a safe party...then get back to me on that. Coheed&Cambria for me is kinda outside of my wheelhouse genre wise...but I always saw them as rock music + an edm vibe. Their music is great. Metal, melody, everything. Done and done.
What a masterpiece this album is. These two albums feel like they’re gonna go down as something big in history as time goes on

New Coheed fan here. Father of 2. This is such a great record. The themes aren't really a secret but it was special to hear Claudio explicitly say that fatherhood plays such a big part in the story and music. Call your Mother, call your Father. Call me hooked. Reading Vaxis I and Amory Wars. Very much enjoying Afterman. Can't wait for what's next. Thank you!

Truthfully, I think it's because beneath the mythos of the concept, the tone of Vaxis, like Color Before the Sun, is Claudio's healing. Like he's mentioned in the video, the songs in Vaxis reflect fatherhood and love, and you can sense Claudio healing from all the turmoil he's been through in the earlier Co+Ca years. He's not angry or bitter, and in fact, is more reflective and self-assured. He has a better sense of self, which he was going to have to develop now that he has a child to care for and be a model of.

I was introduced to Coheed in 2005-2006. They stood the test of time where a lot of my favorite bands fell by the wayside. Coheed just keeps innovating and getting better with time. I had just goten married when this album dropped. Three months later my wife was pregnant with our son. To say that this album’s themes resonated with my soul would be an understatement. Slow dancing to "Our Love" while holding her tummy and feeling our son move... those are moments that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Looking into my newborns eyes while Claudio sings about the experience as I'm having it... truly magical. Thanks guys. You elivate the artform and we love you for it!

I think one of the defining traits of Coheed is their ability to constantly subvert expectations of what their music is "supposed to be". Can you imagine any other rock band that's been around for 20 years suddenly busting out an autotuned dance-y electronic song out of the blue and it end up being one of their best songs?

They nailed this album. What has gotten me to stay and enjoy Coheed for as long as I have is they do totally have roots in their orginal music, IKSSE or Good Apollo, but they do add new sounds every time. Enough where it gives me something to enjoy their creativity but not going so far as to forgo the roots or where they started. They really do seem to have a perfect balance. Love these guys, sorry I missed their show in Seattle last month. Always though, one among the fence.

CLAUDIO, I will embrace anything you create, because you KNOW what YOU want to do, and you make sure you do it well. I don't like every Coheed song as much as another. I didn't like Year as an album mostly, but it still contains some of my favorite tracks across bands and genres, Pearl of the Stars is a high roller for me. I've always said my least favorite Coheed song is LEVELS of skill and quality above my favorites from other bands. The skill and craftsmanship that goes into this... I think... I would be shocked by a Coheed song I truly didn't like, and I would love Claudio and the band for making it, because I would know they crushed what they wanted to create.

I've obsessed over Coheed since 2002 various times over. When Unheavenly Creatures came out I liked it, but due to biases toward pop-culture, pitch correction software, and probably other complicated psychological reasons, I struggled to love it in the same way. But as the new singles came out for Vaxis II, I have been digging them immensely. And I have to say, in spite of the pervasive autotune I absolutely adore this record.
