Nicklaus Garcia-Reid Hey, it was gonna happen sometime. The story actually ended with NWFT and they had to do some gymnastics to get YOTBR and Afterman to fit... They both had to be thrown at the beginning. There's not that much more to add. I'm excited for this album though. Without all the weird "Crowings" and "Newos" they'll be able to appeal to a larger audience that isn't familiar with the story.

Grant Johnson So you must of HATED songs like "Away We Go" "2's My favorite 1" "A Favor House Atlantic" "Blood Red Summer" "The Suffering" Which all have very similar feels to this song.
@Dracula_sb9 жыл бұрын
Grant Johnson I've been seeing your comments and I agree with you 100%..Using "A Favor House", '2's my favorite 1',and "The suffering" to justify this song is stupid. The lyrical value in them is way deeper and the instrumentation isn't a rip of "Atlas". This isn't Coheed. "But that's prog". Lol no. You're telling me I waited almost 3 years for the next album to be announced only to get this half assed song? Give me a break.
@VidmanBarca899 жыл бұрын
Daniel Gonzalez You're an idiot too. This song has such a similar sound to "Away We Go" Lyrically it is different because it isn't part of the concept but it still has a Coheed feel.

I'm going to nominate this as my class song this year. This explains life after you go from on top of the world as a Senior in High School to a Freshman in College or anywhere else you go, but presents it in a positive, upbeat drive.

I am probably one of the few people who actually LOVES every single piece of work these guys have put out. I mean that in the most literal sense as can be. This song is just fun, and this new album will have some newer ideas from these guys bc for once it won't be tied down to their concept. It's been one hell of a ride, can't wait!
@MetsForLife59 жыл бұрын
This is incredible. Literally, this song captures the sound from practically all their albums. The music reminds me of like a mixture between Dark Side of Me and When Skeletons Live, but the lyrics are much darker than their newer albums, giving it sort of that SSTB, IKSSE3, GA1 feel. Very excited to hear the song that this clearly leads into as well as the rest of the album!

What a lot of people are having a hard time wrapping their heads around is why Coheed would write such an upbeat tune with seemingly insignificant lyrics. What they need to realize is that Coheed as a band isn't obligated to fulfill your expectations of what their music sounds like, because all they need to do is fulfill their expectations of what they sound like, which is something that changes drastically unlike many other bands. One sign of a great artist is the ability to reinvent their style, something Coheed has had tremendous success doing, and I would rather have this song than a repeat of anything we've heard before. Coheed and Cambria are masters of change, don't attempt to box them into what you think makes them Coheed and Cambria, because part of the artistic process is growth, something the naysayers are attempting to stifle.

“I kind of want people to know that Coheed can write that sort of record,” frontman Claudio Sanchez reveals of the album’s departure from The Amory Wars. “I’ve always said in the past that there’s never been a limitation on the band. yubbone Ever stop and think that some people don't know the difference between understanding a song and feeling a song? After that thought, could the comment about trying to find the meaning be not one of condescension but of honest intentions and helpful instructions? He replied to what was on the page, he just didn't read it the same as you read it or as it was intended on being read. Words on a format where diction and tone can be lost can be interpreted many ways after all; There is bound to be errors in communication. There's no need to prosecute a man over what you assume was his assumption. If we attack each other for trying to help each other then we'll stop helping each other, friend.

@ManMadeGod49 жыл бұрын
yubbone You're an aggressive one, aren't you? So far as you think you're helpful I guess it's alright then. *EDIT:* This was not a compliment. Your attitude is abhorrent. The original comment you replied to was a misunderstanding of a turn of phrase and when I pointed this out you insulted me for it. Why you feel the need to deride someone while hiding behind flowery pretext that you believe justifies your cynicism is honestly sickening. Reevaluate your life and do something to better it for the sake of both yourself and anyone unfortunate enough to be near you, either physically or emotionally.

The thing is this sounds really really similar to the afterman records, specifically descension, a mix of all the happy pop stuff, Dark Side of Me, Away We Go, 2's My Favorite 1, you would've thought this song just couldn't fit on the last album. I find my mind being blown less and less since NWFT, the albums become monotonous to listen to a whole especially with the big reverb-y sounding songs and these pop jingles with Oooo-o-Ooo's every other section. Claudio, push the boat out this time!

Good Apollo I think its funny how people hear Rush when listening to this song. Rush is one of my favorite bands, but I hear none of them in this track. Just a continuing of the Descension feeling with Floyd thrown in there at the end.

Yeh til they say fuck I can kinda agree xD some of their music has that poppy feel but then you remember who they are when they drop a fuck in there or something not so nice. Love it!

I don't understand why so many people keep saying that this song is bad, and that it isn't a true Coheed song. A band is more than the tone that they're known for. It has to do with the kind of message that they send, and the way they convey it. The meaning of this song, as far as I see it, is that it's a mockery of these 15 minutes of fame pop asshats that think they're the shit. Not realizing that when they become irrelevant everyone will forget about them. From the lyrics, to the overall sound, and beat, and I think it's brilliant how they did it.

all i know about this is that nick steinhardt (guitarist from touché amoré) is doing the album art (he's the guy responsible for "sunbather" and a million other album covers you probably never knew about)

Dan M that's pretty awesome. The Sunbather art is so simple yet so profound.

Yes! A new Coheed album's coming down the pike! Seems interesting that Claudio and crew seem to be going for a different song style if the other songs are like this one. Can't wait to hear more and pick up the album when it comes out... Oh, and I didn't forget about checking out Thank You Scientist from the last concert I saw C&C in; they're amazing as well!

Please go listen to any rush song, along with SSTB and IKSSE and try to tell me this sounds even remotely close to any of them. I'm 100% convinced coheed has people writing some of these nauseating comments. Also, this song is a shitstorm
@akitheredwolf95419 жыл бұрын
Nicholas Yeates This song actually reminds me a lot of Blood Red Summer. I don't see what's so different with this song with other Coheed singles as the majority of their singles are their pop songs.

Kaity Sullivan It took some time, but YOTBR has grown on me, a lot. I didn't like how the album had pretty much a singular tone since their previous albums meshed so many influences, but on further listenings, it just got better to me. The Afterman, on the other hand, is a steaming pile... There are a few moments that were cool, but the vast majority, IMO, was just straight up garbage. Too bad, they used to be such a consistently good band. Oh well, plenty of other good albums out right now that it doesn't matter if Coheed makes another bad album, lol.
