SURFING WITH CASEY NEISTAT IN CALIFORNIA!!

Started surfing in the 60s in SoCal. Fun times and loved it until my first trip to Hawaii in '69. After that, surfing in SoCal was never the same...got totally spoiled in HI. After moving to HI, life was perfect, until....well, a few years ago my knees said "no more" and, while I can't surf anymore, I love walking over to the beach (I spend a lot of time at "Pidgeon Point") and I LOVE watching the surfers and I LOVE watching your and Jamie's videos. Thanks for keepin' them coming.

Happy Birthday Tina!!! Welcome to So Cal. I love ET Surf and Hermosa Beach. Its the original surf city, because that is where all the "old" surf board shapers set up shop in the 1960's. Next time you come in the winter you guys should go to Palos Verdes Cove. Its know as little Waikiki... They have been surfing there since the 1920's.

Happy birth day and the plank looks like a good one shaped several like that my self with the extra tail rocker and the hip does it have upturned tail rails ? .Demands stepping right back over the fin to turn .My fave fin for that board is the rainbow hatchet( Pivot Grande)quite far forward in the box to make it turn quicker . and the water temp here Wales is 44.6F !!!

It's still freezing. One of the biggest misconceptions is that California has warm water. It's all those old surf movies. That fact is the water is very cold almost all year. It briefly warms up into the 70s during the late Summer across S. California but that's it. Northern California stays in the 50s pretty much all year long. That's freezing to me. I like the water to be 80 degrees to be comfortable without any type of wetsuit on (vest, Spring Suit, Full Suit, etc). That's why I like Florida the most (for just having a fun family beach day) even though the waves aren't the greatest.

Boy bad waves alright. You didn't say what beach. Think south bay maybe Redondo. That's my kind of board. My 1st board was a Greg Noll balsa, then a Dewey Weber 10.2 turned down rails. Last and favorite was a 10.6 Hobi double ender. Wish I still had them. I'm a Calif surfer 1959-63. Now living in Hawai'i for 57 years. PIcked shells at Ke Iki in the 90'S, nobody surfed Ke Iki or Sharks Cove back then. Favorite place is Cunhas outside Waikiki for bodyboarding when surf is up or inside at Graveyards off the wall. Glad you all are okay. Safe journey home😄
