I just replayed Darksiders 1 a week before Darksiders 3 came out, and I definitely disagree that 1 had more variation in enemies than 3 did. 1 had a lot more variation in the enemies during the first half of the game (roughly until you fought the Stygian). After that, nearly all the enemies outside of the bosses were re-skins with more HP and damage. Darksiders 3, meanwhile, has less variation in enemy types per region. Each of the six regions have a type of enemies that you find there, and as your path leads you through different regions, the enemies change. However, what this means is that if you spend a long time in one particular region (like, say, the Hollows when you're clearing out the Catacombs), you'll face mostly the same three or four types of enemies, instead of a general assortment like Darksiders 1 featured. However, when you take all of the areas together, Darksiders 3 definitely has more unique monsters with unique move-sets than Darksiders 1 has. This isn't a knock on Darksiders 1 though. Darksiders 3 is focused primarily on combat and exploration, so it makes total sense that they would focus mainly on enemy types and environments. Darksiders 1 was mostly a Zelda clone, so as long as the dungeons were good, which they were, it was ok to re-skin and reuse enemy types so long as the general variety felt alright.

I think it should be noted that Darksiders started in 2010 while Dark Souls was 2011. Not counting Demon Souls. Also each game in this franchise has been a slightly different stlye than the previous. Darksiders had similar mechanics to that of some Zelda games. While Darksiders 2 leaned more towards RPG elements like leveling up, skill tree, and various weapon/armor loot with their own stats. This one seems to be a bit more like the first with the waypoints being farther apart which may make it seem more Dark Souls-like in terms of punishing progress. Also the fast travel system has been the same through out each game.

Also Serpent holes function the exact same as they did in the first game. So if anything Dark Souls got it from Darksiders.

I am an old time darksiders fan , was very happy that i was getting the game , this is a great game for fans , and darksiders doesn't need to be best game to be a classic . Devs are very passionate and had to work in a limited budget , i hope this does well , bought the 60$ version . And these dont shove microtransaction down my throat , that is a big plus .

Aditya Verma yup,darksiders is never a great game that what great bout darksiders game,not triple A game more like underdog,a diamond hidden among glasses that kind of game. Most people expected triple A game quality from darksiders 3 end up dissapointed,make me lol. And i enjoyed the 3rd game as a fans that gave up the series wont see the light of day,when it announce im very happy hell i bought collector edition too. Sure the 3rd game have flaw and weakness but it expected coz the budget of this game also limited and far very very small compared to darksiders 1 and 2,also the team behind 3rd game most of it original staff also far smaller than the team that make darksiders 1 and 2. For a smaller team and small budget they did great job to delivered the game on time of release date and it turn out a solid good game.

But i was very excited to play this game since the announcement , this game didn't disappoint me , this game is not for everyone but its for people like me who love old school games , i still play original COD , DMC , GOW those games remind me of time , when gaming was supposed to be simple and fun . This game take s me back to 2008 times , time when i bought my pc and started gamimg. Not everyone can appreciate this gem .

ronuss I never looked at it that way before about not all games have to be great, I tend keep my expectations low so I won’t be disappointed. I’m sure I will have some fun when I pick this game up at some point, I really enjoyed the previous two games.

It's a great game, takes more gameplay influences from Ninja Gaiden than anything else. The game has a theme of punishment and being a punisher with abjuration magic which I think is creative, the difficulty reflects that as well. I play on PC so the camera was only a minor issue fighting gluttony. The game is from a small sized studio I'm impressed.

At this point, I'll take an average game. It's good, it's COMPLETE AT LAUNCH, it doesn't include gambling Loot boxes, and seems so far like the devs did their best. More of this please!

The camera is not a mistake. The arena's are circular and the Dev's decided not to baby sit the player keeping them in the arena circle. But players were punished when they hugged a wall or found a corner. Did you notice how fast you were attacked when retreating to a corner. I noticed early on I was ruthlessly attacked in corners. After that, I stopped hugging walls and stayed out of corners and the camera was fine. Actually, I think it was a brilliant move from the Devs.

Had watched this game from start to finish with the stream and one thing I will say is that this game had a really great soundtrack. I will be picking it up for sure! I agree with Cohh on the bugs but also feel like the combat mechanics were a bit clunky in places, like if you tried to do something, the game would think you are trying to do something else. Would agree with a 7/10 Looking forward to where they take it next.

i dont really like to rate games out of 10 but if i did for me and being a fan of the darksiders story i would say an 8 out of 10 i didnt run into many bugs other then a few crashes and yeah the camera did suck at times and targeting was bad sometimes also but i loved the game and happen i played it on the hardest setting!

Jordan Robinson yes. To expect a new entry in a franchise that’s not been active for 8 years will ultimately show that it will have a constraint budget. I for one will support this game so that we may see the next and possibly final installment of an other wise under appreciated franchise.

@@jordanr9062 I think its awesome because games nowadays promise a ton and give you just a part of that, or seem like mindblowing awesome and end up being boring. DS3 promised the next game in the franchise and did justice to it, having a low budget as well its mindblowing how they managed to do it. The graphics got a lot of improvement while the gameplay wasnt bad but slightly downgraded compared to the first two games, however it still makes me want to play it a second time so it still gets the job done I'd say. Overall, I think whats amazing about this game is how they managed to bring it back with a low budget while not being utter shit nor boring and gives us the chance to get the end of the franchise with a fourth game.

No 3rd person ARPG that I've ever played has had a good camera, and that's mainly the type of game I play, so you shouldn't really fault the game for that. The other 2 Darksiders games, as well as even the most popular arpg games like the Zelda series and Dark Souls, have a shitty camera.

I wouldn't call these games RPG, action or otherwise. To me, ARPG is something like Witcher 3, as in huge focus on the action, and some focus on roleplaying. This is more along the lines of a Hack&Slash, like the DMC or Bayonetta games. I don't see where the roleplaying is...

I've heard plenty of people complain about the camera. However, the camera being wonky sometimes is true of nearly every third person action game ever made, including ones that are more praised like God of War, so really I can't say that's a big downside when it's no more egregious than most other games like it.

No seriously, I have the game and if there's a game out there that can be called a soulslike its this one. I know the currency was always souls in Darksiders, but the upgrade system, the checkpoint system, the fast travel system, plus a lot of the terminology in the game is straight out of darksouls. I mean, one of the important side characters is called the lord of hollows and he gives you items which are called hollows. Even the theme of the games story borrows heavily from Darksouls. All of that said, I think it's a good game with some flaws.

The 3rd game is a solid good game,the team that make the 3rd game most of them also the original team that make darksiders 1 and 2 but not the amount of peole working for this game are far smaller than darksiders and darksiders 2 also the budget for 3rd game also very smaller than previous game,in the end it good quality game,sure it have flaws. Comparing this game to Dark Souls is not the way I would have gone with the video. I think it would have been better if you compared it to the other games and how it stacks up against them. Personally, this is the worst Darksiders of the 3. By far. The environments are not that good. The combos just don’t fit well here. Fury is not as interesting as War and Death in terms of motivation. Combat is clunky. All around, not a worthy purchase for a fan of the franchise. But for someone who still wants to try it out, wait for a sale.

M&K being "rough"? I've played all action/adventure games with M&K for over two decades..it's just your mentality that these games should be played with a controller which is false..I had no issue with the controls. Controlling the camera with a mouse is way better than with an analog stick..the problem was the lockon system that was badly implemented.

@@dushikorsou1 I am a Dark Souls Fanatic and have been playing souls game pretty much since I imported demons souls from Japan. But souls formula in Darksiders 3 isnt working. We love Darsiders for what they are, they already had the fan base but why in hell they changed their gameplay design and copied many traits from souls games, I would never know. Anyhow I am not sure Darksiders will be the same after this as they have already taken a new direction with this one. But i agree to your opinion about Fury and her personality.

i'm sorry grammar nazi. just to be clear i never said it was a good game.... this must be one of the biggest disappointments of the year for me. the dodge mechanic is down right broken in this game and hate that they whent this darksouls direction which doesn't fit the lore at all. darksiders 1 and 2 where great dmc/zelda games, but somehow they thought fuck those people and lets make a generic darksouls clone. specially when you start a new dev team and on a smaller budget to change the game so much is just a baffling decision. it reminds me allot of lord of the fallen which was a really clunky dark souls clone.
