I know the meme is that "this is the best game ever made" or whatever, but I really don't think people realize just how genius this game in all actuality is. Like, it would have already been a hilarious game with just the music alone, just the premise of the game's primary instrument being a trombone, one of the most notoriously obnoxious instruments ever only rivaled by maybe the tuba. But no, that wasn't enough, then you have these Tim and Eric style pictures popping up in the background just to drive home how ridiculous this all is. But even THAT wasn't enough. Then you have a Dark Souls style opening and all this lore surrounding ancient baboons and demon sacrifices to unlock stuff in the game, adding that whole Inscryption layer to it all...it just sends it to a whole other level of legendary. This game revels in its ridiculous premise and just goes all the way with it. We have too many games that try oh so hard to be the next Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones, everything is either super serious or super competitive. It's rare that we have a game that actually makes us laugh, and it doesn't do so in a crude GTA way, it does it the way games USED to be in the 90s and 2000s, when being ridiculous was cool. I think that's why this game has the intro that it does, to poke fun at how games these days try way too hard to have some crazy lore or story attached in place of actual substance. It's a commentary on how games these days just completely miss the point of why they exist; to be fun. This could have just been another dumb rhythm game riding on the coattails of Guitar Hero, but it manages to be something a bit more than that, and walk away with its own identity. Plus yea, it's pretty damn hilarious.
