Coin ring tools used, how to make bracelets...bangles and cuffs.

Taught to me by LJ Chavez (@pure_metal_alchemy), here is a great way to make some BIG coin rings into bracelets like cuffs and even bangles.

Very impressive Jason. I've made the small necklace pieces and rings as large as US 27 but never attempted to go beyond that. To see you stretch that out to a bracelet is amazing! Wish you would have shown some close up photos of the detail antiqued. Was the detail lost or distorted from such a massive stretch or did it come out recognizable to the coin you used?

At some point when you're putting it on the mega stretchers you need to stop calling it a ring unless you're making it for a jolly Green Giant LOL just a joke I figured I'd throw in there I like the way you say you have to rotate the ring but it is no longer a ring unless you're making it for the jolly Green Giant himself okay back to work LOL

Can you recommend a economic ring stretcher /reducer?I can’t seem to find one that will reduce up to size 14.I wear a size 13.5

What would happen if you put something like a canvas clothe over the sixth stretcher to give it some thickness to you get it over that lip on the bottom of the stretcher

All I have is a big vice and a regular ring mandril, can u come up with a way of doing this? If not i guess I'll have to come up with a jajajaja

Get an attached mic for your shirt or something. Your voice is so low I turn up volume then get blasted by tools being laid down / tool sounds like hammering or annealing. Everything else is perfect and congrats on your upgrades!

I wonder if you could go bigger by gradually placing strips of plastic of various thicknesses between the biggest mandrel and the coin. Should be doable.

Instead of pipe tape use a rubber glove ! That should protect it !

Jason, what is the tool you are using to trim and smooth out the burs? Where can I get this? I’ve always used sandpaper.

if it's silver, don't overheat it, heat it more slowly from farther away. on;y to barely glowing in a dark room. with cupranickel type coins, it just buffs or polishes off afterward if you use compounds. there's no issue with it having a black surface from anealing.

hmmm...on second thought i think id be way too scared of screwing up & then ruining the silver coin. i think ill just keep the silver dollar as is & stick with 3" copper pipe for making bangles...too bad we couldnt figure out a way to use the detail printed on the coin to make a stainless steel metal stamp or something. then use the stamp to transfer the coin detail onto other (less expensive) metals...(like copper, for ex.) & use that to make rings, bangles, cuff bracelets, etc... i wonder how legal/illegal doing something like that actually is...? shouldnt be that big of a deal as long as we only use it to make jewelry, right? i mean, my intention is NOT to try to stamp a bunch of copper & attempt to pass it off as real money or anything like that. i would never...im not the crazy/stupid risk taker type...(nor am i the prision type!) lol. i just wanna make cool jewelry without hurting any silver coins in the process.

Thanks for everything; first off, I save all the plugs from the coins, get some tiny s hooks from a jewelry supply; drill holes in the plugs, and the bracelets and attach them after deburring/sanding of course. Females love that gypsy jingle they make, and you get to use up the plugs 6 plenty on a bracelet
