I have a question, I purchased some Silver Dollars from the Temu website is it my imagination or are they almost impossible to fold in order to make a ring? I broke the first three I tried and this one just isn’t working well. Are they not silver coins? Let me know what you know or find out thank you very much. Ed

What you think about annealing with hot water? I tried it, but I don’t know if it really works 🤷♂️

Thanks Jason, I watched you years ago when I first starting and have several of your dies and tools, but it's been about 5 years when I last made any rings, and of course a couple of friends that have seen the ones I ware and know I used to make then want me to make them one now. I have retired and moved to Florida, 😢So after going through my tubs trying to find all my ring making tools and extras, I also wanted and needed to watch some videos on the process that I had forgotten much about, this video even though it says you did it a year ago seems very similar to one you made years ago, which I guess makes sense the process shouldn't change much, so thanks again for getting me back on track.

My quarters always look too dark after annealing how do i bring them back to looking nice
@JasonsWorks6 ай бұрын
Is it silver or clad quarter? I like to use the Sally's Miracle buff pad. They are a blue foam pad with white buff on ne side and a fine abrasive grey on the other. Do the grey side first and then the white buff. I would keep the firescale on the ring until the very end though. I don't clean every time, just when I am finished forming.

These are actually nail sanding blocks :) The best ones are from Sally's beauty supply. The fine blocks with the grey and white sides are the best from Sally's as there are imitations out there.

Thank you for the comment. Here is a link to my site. The prices range as you can get single tools or kits. The larger the kit, the more savings you'll have. So you can build up your tools slowly as you get better making the rings or go all in. Thank you!

Seriously, it's such a simple idea, but it's ingenious! I just ran out of wire, too. Instead of ordering more wire, I'm getting some draw plates. I like working with 999fs, so I will probably start with some generic silver rounds. I'm legitimately excited about this right now 😅. Thanks again, Jason.
@JasonsWorks11 ай бұрын
AWESOME!!! The 999 works so easy to work with too. You can punch multiple rings out for wire if your using a big round. Start with the smallest punch you have. Cool!
@RockyMountainBear Жыл бұрын
Thanks for showing this. I've been using silver dimes & quarters to make bezel wire. It's basically a seamless bezel for setting stones like turquoise cabochons. It's just one less soldering joint I have to worry about. I have also used that type of coin flat-wire in my bell handles. Honestly, I'm a little embarrassed to say that it never even crossed my mind to make twisted wire using coins. That's really a great idea. I can't wait to try it out. It will look killer around a coin bezel set cabochon. Thanks for the tips. I really appreciate it.

*"Good tip as usual Jason. What I did with all my dies is I simply powder coated them all whether they were 7, 17, or 25 with a different color for each on the outside of the dies. Of course, you can always spraypaint if you don't have a powder coating setup. But it does help me to very quickly grab the desired angle I need."*
