I sometimes find steel dimes that are darker (gray) and dull too, and I don't know either what happened to them. Until now, I assumed it was environmental damage, but I'm not certain for sure... I've got over 3 boxes of dimes, where 2 full boxes were circulated in plastic, and were opened in front of me by the teller. I took them as-is because coins were not white machine rolls (that risk to be ARP rolls). At the 3rd branch where I also got a full box of dimes, they first brought me a box full of machine rolls (even after having told them I wanted customer rolls), and she finally accepted to swap them for all the plastic rolls they had around. I've been successful with silver at this branch, so sure enough. After just a few rolls, I found a 1965! There are lots of Americans too. There were 4 Americans in the same roll as the 1965 80% silver. Of course, I pull out all American coins, and if I get a full box with hardly a single American (like yours), it might have been gone through by a hunter so when I see that trend, I lower my expectations. To keep the pleasure until the end, I alternatively hunt rolls in each of the 3 boxe, as well as the equivalent of one box of quarters, so I'll simultaneously see how the 2 other boxes perform. So yes, you should also continue to hunt dimes, but if you remember the branches you got more silver, it's a good idea to return and ask for customer rolls again.

@@CADRollHunter I did also find a 1960 in that same box, and nothing so far in the 2 others. It's really pleasant to continue hunting...
@rpmcanada19712 ай бұрын
In my last pickup, I got some white Dime machine rolls from 3 different banks. I tend not to accept them (in large quantities) because they might as well be ARP rolls. I spotted an old nickel "Tiara" bust among each bundle at each different bank, so I said, there might be silver and US dimes. As I'm going through them, there are just a few nickel dimes, not a "single" US dime. Hunting these is quite dry, because I'm starting to think these rolls, while not ARP, they still could have been sorted with a magnetic machine that rejects anything not magnetic. At one branch, I got a full box of these... Not a single US dime. It can't be a coincidence, because with customer rolls, I average 1 US dime per roll, sometimes more. Not finding US dimes is not a big deal, but it says these rolls are stuffed exclusively with magnetic coins, so no chance for silver. I think I won't take any more of these machine rolls unless I see an American or silver ender... In any case, customer rolls have always outperform white machine rolls by far, even non ARP ones that have US in them... Surprisingly, I also got white quarter non ARP rolls, that have US in them, so yes, in these we have a chance for silver... No silver this time for me, but the hunt was still more challenging because hope was there, and there were chances for color as well, especially the 2015 large poppy...
@CADRollHunter2 ай бұрын
Dimes particularly are tough, and ARP rolls present very little in the way of interesting finds. I won't take them at all!
@rpmcanada19712 ай бұрын
@@CADRollHunter Yes, and the thing I now discovered, is that in these machine rolls, an old Tiara bust ender does not mean there's a chance for silver or good coins, since 100% of them might be magnetic. I also avoid those, but sometimes when I ask for a too large amount they pull out boxes of them, alas, and don't look in their loose customer rolls (even if I ask at the beginning). At one of the branches, I asked for $400 in customer rolled dimes, and they came back with 1 full box and 3 bundles of these white rolls. I insisted a bit, saying, "Don't you have a single customer roll to switch for these?", and the teller switched 2 bundles of these for a mix of plastic and brown paper rolls, and there was a 1955 silver dime! So I earned it with insisting a little more on having customer rolls... That's the only silver this time around, but that's awesome, and tells us we should avoid the machine rolls. In USA, they're lucky, because their machine rolls seem not to prevent having silver in them. Since their coins are non-magnetic, they reject the magnetic coins, so all silver, even Canadian silver, can get in their machine rolls...

Hey james I remember you finding that other similar dime in a previous video, I've found 2 2020 and 1 2021 bluenose under sail that I think are the same as what you found. I wasn't sure if it was missing the nickel plating or if someone plated them. it's kinda hard to tell in the video but is the colour like a darkish grey with slight copper tone to it?
