Great hunt! That clipped planchet is a pretty neat find! This past week, I had an awesome roll of quarters; definitely a small collection dump. In the roll, I found a 1961 silver Canadian quarter, a severe off-centre strike on a Wyoming state quarter, and every single 1992 provincial quarter, including a stunning, BU New Brunswick.

I need one of those 2010 poppies! Funny that I'm hunting the same stuff this weekend and this video popped up! That 1973 is definitely a clipped planchet - very cool! You'd have been rich is that was also the large bust version. That 2017 colourised though - that is a gorgeous coin! I don't have one of those either. A couple of weeks back I found a 1967 and a 1953 small date. Unfortunately the latter was in G-4 condition. Still good for stacking though!

Very cool hunt to watch with you... Finding silver gives reassurance I also we continue to have chance, but these black rim dirty coins also fool me quite often. 1996 is a low mint year and I tend to keep all of them, but probably not the black one you got. Quarters are also for me the coolest denomination to hunt for a few reasons, especially when I've been getting twice so far from the same bank a bunch of overstuffed rolls! The first time, I was surprised to see these, in the thin paper wrappers with orange stripes on each side. There were lots of Americans in these. I was suspecting the customer had a lot of quarters and didn't bother counting them and filled each tube guiding to the lines. Each contained between 40 and up to 44 quarters! That's $1 extra for a single roll, and most of them ended up at 41, so that was amazing. The next time I want, 2 weeks ago, I got 38 more rolls of these, in a quarter box where it was stamped "Société de transport de Laval". Well, I suspect where these come from, and employess are so rushed (assuming) that they don't have time to count the coins while rolling them. It's always wise to ask for the box even if you don't pick up a full box worth. In these 38 rolls, lots of US, many overstuffed, and ... a 1964 silver! That was the main piece of joy, as I don't really find silver quarters often. With the overstuff profit, I could certainly buy another silver quarter, but nothing feels like finding one yourself... I imagine the passenger throwing a silver quarter in the bus fare box, so cool I got it. I will certainly go back to that bank next week and ask for more of these rolls. Even if no silver, getting profit and US in nearly each roll is always welcome. It' surprising you haven't found a KC3 yet, as I have 5 full rolls of them from difference sources, and there were plenty in the STL rolls. My 2nd top denomination is dimes, mainly for silver, and I got 2 in my last hunt: 1963 and 1968. I also got a few KC3, and noticed some are 2024! So yes, the 2024s are aout, at least for the dimes. So far, KC dimes are not as common as quarters, but it might as well depend on the region you are. Again, I Liked your video, and, ..., till the next one.
@sawyerdawson287 ай бұрын
Just curious - have you seen that the mintage figures that are up now for the 2023 KCIII coinage? They're on Numista. I'm glad you're having some successful hunts!
@rpmcanada19717 ай бұрын
@@sawyerdawson28 No, thanks for telling me, I'll check now. Doing Google search alone doesn't really help, so I'll check Numista directly. I feel the quarters are not that rare, unless my region (Montréal) got thema all, but dimes may be a little more scarce. I'll check to see if I'm right or not...

@@CADRollHunter Yes, of course. I just dropped my returns (always at the same bank) and visited many more to get more coins to search. I surely didn't forget to stop at the bank with the overstuffed STL box (that also had a silver) but this time, even if I mentioned STL and brown rolls, they only had brand new boxes with white machine rolls, so it really depends each time. I just could grab a few customer rolls from the cashier's drawer. I visited many other different banks this time, because none had many customer rolls, but a few from each. Sometimes silver hides just in the few loose rolls a customer brought. Hoping I'll continue to get good surprises this time, and good luck for your future hunts as well. Quarter (and also dime) videos are always fun and enjoyable to watch.

I didn't find a clipped planchette, but I have an uncirculated toonie with some sort of unknown mint rim damage I can't identify on the 1999 Nunavut. I also just found a penny with a blank planchette that has a full rim from a 1980's sealed bank roll, dating it at 1983-1989 based on the roll it was in. I'm here in Ontario also and have been wondering how to get into coin roll hunting from the bank. I am unsure of the procedure and if my local small town bank even allow buying customer wrapped rolls. Can you give advice?

Really nice finds. What are your thoughts on the Mint's special coin releases? I love all these special 25 cent releases, but it feels like its been forever since they released a special circulation 25 cent piece. Back when I was a kid with all the provincials, 1999, 2000's and Olympic special releases it felt like everyday I would find a new coin I didn't have for my albums. Today, one can only hope they find a special loonie or toonie every now and then or like you were saying a KC III obverse coin. I wish they would continue doing special 25 cent circulation pieces, imo
@CADRollHunter7 ай бұрын
Between the 1992, and the 99/00 millennials, there were certainly lots of commemmoratives to look out for. They're certainly harder to find. And no new colour quarters in circulation since 2017. Not sure when we might see some more variety...
@anemptychannel34847 ай бұрын
@@CADRollHunter I think they're trying to make you "spend" more money collecting circulation commemoratives by setting aside loonies and toonies instead of quarters and dimes. Sadly, they're probably never going to make colored nickels. If they just make a ton of colored nickels once in a while, like 100 million of them, it would make coin roll hunting much more fun.
