Good finds Rob, I found a 1868 and 1882 Shield Nickel in a customer wrap roll from work at my gas station yesterday... Been looking out for Buffalo's or V's, but I got Shields instead... I'll take'em!... Thought you might like to take a look so I shot the 1868 at work around back on break... The 1882 is in rougher condition surprisingly... i.imgur.com/7Plzhs9.jpg - Front i.imgur.com/6ih9BPe.jpg - Back

I just hunted 30 rolls of nickels yesterday but 10 of them were customer wrapped and they were searched, but the bank rolls had 2 buffalo nickels with dates and a 1950 d nickel! It looked to be in VF35 condition

I think this is why I like collecting Jefferson nickels so much! You can still find every year and every mint mark ever made in circulation! And if your lucky, some nice errors and varieties! Congrats on finding that 1919 Buffalo 🐃! I love them Buffalos!

One time at a soda machine, I got a Buffalo nickel in change. It was the rarest of them all. A 1929-S. Less than a million of them were made. The date was easy to read, and so was the mint mark.

I worked for this place and kept finding silver nickels so i asked em where they got their change. At huntingtons bank. I got 3 boxes and each one had 6-10 silver war nickels and one buffalo each. I ordered some halves. I think 6-10 silvers and a buffalo is pretty good. Deff worth the trouble. Nickels r easy to roll.

I just discovered your channel a couple weeks ago. I hadn't searched coins in over 15 years or more. I did a quarter box and a nickel box, 2 weeks ago. Those 2009 nickels are really hard to find. This week, a nickel and a penny box. 2 boxes and no '09 nickels!!! I did find a '36 Buffalo, and 3 silver war nickels. Several 40's, 50's, and ALL Jefferson '38 P, D, and S! Several '39s. In the quarter box, several Bi-Centennials, some stunning 2019s AND, I even got a Lowell W!!! STILL, no '09 nickels! Have not started the penny box yet.

Hey Rob - so you end up keeping lots of cool coins, though many are not particularly nice or rare...often just old (i.e. the 1940s ones your found here). What do you do with these? Do you send some back? Do you put them all in flips? do you put them in tubes or rolls? With all the hunting you do, seems like all this would take up a ton of space. What is your system? Thanks!

How come that almost all buffalos are always worn and usually hard to see the date did they use cheaper metals? Or is it because they have been in circulation for decades
@RobFindsTreasure4 жыл бұрын
coolgamer 6554 the date is on the highest point of the coin where it wears fastest. This is why then and the SLQs are typically dateless.

They were also a popular coin for pay phones back in 20s and 30s. In the 1940s it cost 10 cents to make a call, thus the slang term "drop me a dime", meant to make phone call.
