Now as the price goes up so will your value. .5133 bitcoin is .5133 whether its at 10,000.00 usd or its 100,000.00. You purchased a percentage no a fixed price like stocks. This is not stocks which is what a lot of people dont understand. Its a currency not stock. So the dynamic of the stock market doesnt work. Its a new PARADIGM. You know the US government will never validate bitcoin if regular tax isn't applied. How do you think they'll get money to function for infrastructure, roads, bridges, government jobs and salaries, you are taxed because you agree to the social contract of a nation-state. I'm invested in crypto. Bitcoin is the Wright Flyer. It is a successful prototype however its biggest known flaw is that it doesnt scale without serious problems and those problems are now evident. I bought bitcoin because it was fast and cheap. As we look at $17k btc today it is slow and very expensive. Btc is done. Time to invest in Glenn Curtis who builds a better airplane (Ethereum). At 17k a subway sandwich priced in btc is 0.000002 or some crap. Could you imagine how rediculous the price scales for merchandise would look if we used btc solely as a payment system? Way too voliataile too. I just sold 90+ % of my btc for Alts. Eth, Ripple, Lisk, Litecoin

There's nothing Coinbase can do to stop the glitches. Coinbase's Armstrong isn't telling you the whole story. Glitches occur when there are too many buyers or sellers on one side of the trade. On normal trading days, there are enough buyers to match sellers and vice-versa. So when a trade occurs, it's just accounting on Coinbase's books between customers. No transactions occur through the blockchain. It is a netting and accounting process. It's why Coinbase is fast. But when there are too many sellers and no buyers (as what occurred on 2017-12-07 at noon time), a price cannot be determined so the system locks. Coinbase can attempt to provide liquidity by taking the other side of the trade but won't do it because it will be taking a huge risk in a collapsing market. In the meantime, price gaps down. The system cannot execute a trade because there is no price offered on the buy side. This is when traders get upset and start crying foul play. Coinbase is prone to manipulation, especially when futures go-live in the US. How? Wall Street buys bitcoin on Coinbase for a huge fiat-backed pump. Before dumping, they use leverage to sell futures contracts to go short. Then they dump as fast as possible on Coinbase to dry up all the buyers and lock up the system. Futures go limit down. They do another dump to create panic. They buy up the bitcoin at lower prices to begin stabilizing the price so they can exit their futures shorts. Bitcoin's supply is minuscule and tiny compared to fiat so the price is easily moved.

Customer service phone support personnel is actually laughing at people calling in [you can hearing them laughing] Phone service can't tell anyone which day , week or month someone will reach out to them to help. I wouldn't be surprised if they just make people wait on hold because they need a break from all the irate people blocked from their money.
