I like what the old coin dealer I know told me: "What ain't rare now never will be" followed by "what wasn't rare when it was minted will never be rare either" followed by "oh yeah, and just because it's rare don't mean it's valuable neither." LOL

Grew up in Philly but moved to GA in 1966 for college. I went home for the Bi-Centennial. So funny. People were selling sealed, plastic gallon jugs for $1.00. “PURE, BI-CENTENNIAL PHILADELPHIA AIR”. People were buying it as fast as the vendors could fill them up. Just sharing.

Hi Daniel, Love the channel and all of your help. A video that would be extremely useful is a deep discussion of the difference between the lower MS grades and upper AU grades. I see tons if PCGS pictures that show a MS RD coin that looks worse than a AU 50. I watched all of the PCGS videos on grading and cannot tell the difference. I know you have videos on grading and they are awesome but I think we need a deeper discussion about the subtle details. Thanks!
@CoinHELPu5 жыл бұрын
I have covered that some in other videos. But looking at images is the part that throws this off.

@@CoinHELPu I agree completely. I am interested in getting better at judging the grade of my coins but without guidance I just cant see the difference between even ms66 and high AU.

I've put them aside when I get one. I just like the design. Over a billion minted means it's worth exactly 25 cents.
@visaman5 жыл бұрын
In 1976, 25 cents had the same purchasing power that $1.13 has in 2019. So, in fact, a 1976 Quarter, isn't even worth a quarter these days.

Off topic here, sorry. I came into a situation where I needed to sell some silver. I decided on selling my rounds and a few bars to make 50 ounces. About 20 ounces were generic, and the rest were Eagles and Maple Leaves, plus some assorted stuff. I did the math before I went in and knew at spot it was worth about $880 dollars. I was paid $850 dollars which I though was fair. What did it for me was when the person helping me asked, from what I gathered was an owner, what to do with the foreign coins and he looked and said I had one that was worth a dollar over spot. He could have nickel and dimed me, but he gave it what it was worth … that impressed me.

I also get one $500 box of quarters about every 2 weeks at my work (we have a change machine and pinball and pool tables) and I just never set them aside.
