I’ve been hearing it has to do with the diverter valves/ blow off valves on these engines not the actual turbo making the whining sound.

This whining noise is from old rev diverter valve with rubber seal membrane. When I was upgraded to DV+, this noise was disappeared..

CTS Turbo in Langley having its annual October sale this week. I’ve been flip flop over this very Intake but decided to upgrade my ignition coils that’s on sale too. My 2009 Audi A3 Quattro’s Cyclinder 2 and 3 were just replaced by non-Audi dealer where I bought it used but they ordered the original coils from 2009. Since it’s a plug and play, I’m just replacing all 4 coils myself. I’m after the 10% increased horsepower and fuel savings as per my mechanic. But thanks for the video on the intake, maybe next year October sale.

it can be a good idea to try and keep the intake resonator. It helps to stabilize the air stream and can prevent you from losing a few horses. Though it will dampen the sounds somewhat.

@Karim Cisse if you ask me yes, im not a pro or so in tunning but it feels the difference in the accelation system also you can feel even more the difference between just installing the downpipe vrs downpipe installed with like a stage 1 unitronic they complement each other, all of this is based on my experience building my GTI step by step

​@@hanksun8707 Running a MK6 GTI with a CTS CAI. The whining is your DV seal failing to hold the extra boost from your intake. If you don't want to lose power, you'll want to replace it with the revised DV (Rev. D), or with an aftermarket solution (GFB DV+).

Thanks for the comments! Sorry for the long waited update video.. It should be coming soon. But since you asked. I would say definitely DON'T slam it right away. I left mine at the highest setting and about 1000 miles later, the car is significantly lower. So definitely give it time to let it settle.

@@hanksun8707 These cars are seriously restricted in terms of flow at high RPM, partly the turbo is small ND partly the factory intake and exhaust don't flow very well. You won't notice the cold air intake at street speed probably. Theoretically though it should be noticeable at high RPM under load, should give you little better gas mileage too.

Thanks for the help! I just put in a CXRacing intake on my mk5 gti with TSI engine, and am having a couple problems. For one the PCV return hose is disconnected and just chillin loose in my engine bay, and I also had to unplug the MAP sensor and hose connected to it which are still unattached, the hose is out (you took it out with the old air box) but the sensor with it is disconnected and floating as well. This intake has a separate MAF housing further back along the intake so that's plugged in thanks to some creative wiring but I'm pretty sure I goofed something up. What do I do with the disconnected MAP sensor/hose and PCV return hose? Thanks Update: I figured out where to plug the MAP back in as well as another sensor that was floating, but now the intake is making a high pitched whine when I accelerate and my PCV return hose is still disconnected

the noise at full throttle is the stock diverter valve change it and you should be fine

If you're talking about the the rubber hose on time stamp 5:12. Then yes, one at the bottom and one at the top. It was secure on both ends and I had to take both of them off.

The high pitch noise is your divertervalve which is worn out. Need to replace it or change it for a DV+ valve from GFB.

Easiest and most jerryrigged setup. Just remove the cover and stock filter and clip a dryer sheet over the end for a filter. As a bonus, all of your air will smell like fresh linen.
