Although this may seem absurd, I found this incredibly motivational as a undergrad student at a small university in the U.K. Hopefully one day I can experience this.

who else but Harvard MBA would have a video about the most banal experiences in any college classroom. Wow! like cold calls never occur anywhere else; but oh, wait, it's Harvard MBA! Let's keep the mystique going: next up Seating Charts!

Any HBS student that played varsity high school baseball knows the rigor of Cold Call - all baseball players on the field before EVERY pitch ask themselves “what will I do, if the ball is hit to me?” mentally be prepared - physically know how to act - Cold Call is same thing - be mentally prepared and keep your physical composure

It’s actually not the same. Why? Because every case, every class, and every day is different. You don’t know what to expect. In your analogy, it’s the same game (baseball). Every HBS class is completely different.

What's this all about?

In Business Schools, you get loads of case studies which you gotta read for class. Cold call is basically the act of the professor, at the beginning of a class, calling out one of the students at random to either give a brief or an opinion about the case. From there the case discussion starts. These I would believe are ex-HBS grads talking about their experience with Cold Calling.
