How I Got Into Harvard Business School | Savannah R, HBS '23

Savannah, a recent Harvard Business School graduate, was a business analyst at McKinsey for three years prior to starting HBS and did a stint at Securian Financial as a corporate strategy associate. As an HBS 2+2 applicant as an undergrad, she always knew she wanted to go to business school, so despite applying with just a few years of experience, she was ready. She got into all four programs she applied to and ultimately decided on HBS. Im currently in senior year of high school what would be y’all’s advice to get into a top graduate school such as Hbs,cbs,Wharton ?what would you recommend doing to increase your probability’s of getting into one of this top mba programs?

Business school is a long way off, but it is impressive that you are already thinking about ways to boost your profile when it is time to apply. Your grades in university are very important to MBA admissions committees, so during your upcoming time in college, focus on earning high grades from the very beginning. MBA programs also want to see applicants who have engaged in extracurriculars during college. I suggest joining clubs and becoming a leader in a few of them, in order to show that you have made an impact. And after college, continue to participate in extracurricular activities, perhaps ones related to what you did during college. Upon college graduation, MBA programs like to see 4-5 years of full-time work experience before an applicant applies. Therefore, while you will not be applying to business school for a while, performing well in and outside the classroom during university will go a long way in boosting your chances of MBA admission.
