Great video. Settling into a new SDR role after a long break. The part about burnout really resonated with me. Was in a similar boat where my mental health was literally circling the drain because of the job. This new role is more of a freelance gig, so I'm not chained to a mandatory 40 hour week anymore, and have way more control over my schedule. It's not a cure by any means but it definitely helps. I like to make calls standing up and staring ahead (sometimes at a mirror). Being seated on a chair looking at a screen or a sheet with phone numbers on it is an easy way to get zoned out, bored, or depressed about the dials.

I can't believe we're in 2024 and still need cold calling to source leads. Madness. Marketing departments exist for a reason and should source MQL's to the sales (SDR) department to qualify for the sales team. In a perfect world. Hopefully in the next 2-3 years.

My team of 5 and I make 100+ cold dials a day 4 days a week, along with emails, texts, and LinkedIn touches. Somedays are harder than others, but each of us want success more than cold calling sucks.

Honestly, I feel like that works the first time somebody hears that line, and when a sales person first used it on me, I would say it was affected… But I have now heard that same line at least 30 times from random Spanish sales people and I immediately hang up when I hear it

Yes. I’m serious that that is typically my go to opener. If you hung up, I’m mark it in salesforce and try and different opener in a few weeks. And then be on my way to making the next call. Not everyone will be receptive to every opener…also it’s more important how you say it than the actual words. How would you like to be cold called?
