Even though there was no murder in this episode, it's just got one of the saddest possible endings. The lengths the Rabinskis went to in order to have a child, the sick way they rationalized it, the pain they put Priscilla through... it's heartbreaking.

Dont forget that the poor baby is probably gonna be messed up too. He grew up for years thinking those people were mom and dad only to have that ripped out from under him one day and he's taken away from his home and toys and friends and everything he ever knew and sent back to his real mom who he doesnt know and hes gonna know the messed up story of how he was kidnapped and have to wrestle with feeling guilty for missing or loving the people who stole him because they never did anything to hurt him.

SPOILERS: Other than this ending, and the ending of Fireflies and Maternal Instincts, are there any other Cold Case episodes with really happy endings, perhaps where family members are re-united?
@tetyoonlee43735 жыл бұрын
@Fred WucherIn "Bad Night" it was actually with the brother and father. Anyway "Maternal Instincts", "Bad Night" and "A Perfect Day" still involve decent people having been murdered so include sad elements. Although I guess you could say that about the time wasted in both "Fireflies" and this case. Other examples may be "The Road" and "One Night", both cases where one victim was saved. Maybe you could also include "Sabotage" and "Bullet" where likewise other murders were directly prevented. (I think there were others.) I'd suggest a number of cases include happy elements e.g. "Lotto Fever" the victim's last remaining money made it to the intended beneficiary. "Two Weddings" was one of those cases where there was no homicide, intentional suicide in this case and Louie Amante gets to happily marry. "Libertyville" the victim's wife and daughter get to meet his family that they didn't know about. "Churchgoing People" the children of the victim and the killer reunite and look like they will have an improved relationship. (Admittedly as horrible as the mother may have been earlier in her life, I'm not sure why someone with as severe dementia as her was imprisoned, but anyway.....) The "Badlands" the restaurant reopens with the hope it will once again be the great centre for the community it once was. "Justice" was one of the few cases where the victim was basically completely unsympathetic to the extent that Lilly and Scotty work to get the (then child) killer off so it's sort a weird happy ending. Which leads to the fact in most episodes the case being solved and the culprit being identified is a happy thing. "Glued" is one particular example where it seems likely solving the case is going to do a fair amount of good, both for the victim's family and others. E.g. Latrell may not have been the nicest person, but it seems good that he can finally meet his mother without fear of being arrested for a crime he didn't commit. "Thrill Kill" one person who was falsely convicted is released. ""Iced" it seems likely that Molly and her father are going to have an improved relationship. "The Brush Man" the son visits his mother again IIRC after was is implied to be a long estrangement when the abusive father murderer is arrested. ""Baby Blues" is an interesting one since while I'm not sure whether it helped the mum to find out what she did (depending on your views of the effects of repressed memories), it surely helped the father and brother. "Time to Crime" I'd suggest ultimately it was clearly good for the whole family including the killer that it was solved no matter the lingering consequences. "Saving Sammy" the son's condition may be helped by solving the case, and it'll likely also help the sister/daughter in her attempts to look after him. Not to mention shutting down the corrupt administrator. "Knuckle Up" likewise father and daughter's relationship looks like it will improve (even if what began as a missing person's case ended up being a murder) plus and again a corrupt administrator is arrested and that uninvolved guy gets into Harvard (which was unrelated to the case or solving it but still happened in the ending). Plus a son finally stands up to his father although it took all that happened including the murders they each committed for it to happen. (Technically I guess also before the ending since it was before the music.)

I’m so happy that woman reunited with her son. I really hate the couple for kidnapping him and believed the woman would OD or wasn’t cut out to a mother. Yes they wanted a baby but that doesn’t justify stealing a baby from his mother. A struggling but loving mother. They’re just as bad as any killer with petty motives imo
@ChristineTheHippie Жыл бұрын
And the mother was getting help and clearly wanted to do the right thing for her child, and the couple just decided to ignore that and take the baby

@AtrocityEquine01 Жыл бұрын
Honestly, all three had it rough. Priscila spent years without her son despite being clean and making it obvious _she can be beat her addiction._ And while his "parents" were in the horrific wrong for taking him away from his real mother, it was their twisted way in simply wanting a better life for him (although it is still wrong they did that because they refused to accept Priscilla would get better). And that's not even getting to the poor kid: Spending his entire life not realizing the people raising him weren't his parents and having his life turned upside down because of it near the end. But it is still heartwarming with the implication that he knew they weren't his real parents and he would be reunited with his real mother in the end.
