On this episode of Chaos Divers, we will be searching for James Ryan Taylor, 39 years old, missing almost 2 years from Columbus, MS. Ryan disappeared on July 14, 2020, in his silver 2011 Ford Fiesta under suspicious circumstances.
In addition to searching for Ryan, we take the opportunity to teach Lindsay more about reading the sonar.
The family of Ryan was incredible to work for and supported us wholeheartedly. We loved having the opportunity to help them.

You might be able to narrow down your search areas by talking to the local rescue squad. Ask them where the have the most accidents in the area you are searching. When I was an EMT we used to have several spots like this including one we called The same old place

It’s Highly Disappointing 1st Responders don’t have the Time and/or Resources to do a more Thorough job Investigating the Hundreds of Thousands of people that go Missing in the US every year. Families generally Never hear back from Investigators. 🤔👎

It can seem like that Ken. But here is a little background from law enforcement side of things... Up until recent times, most departments lacked the funding to purchase boats, sonar, let alone trained divers. Thankfully grants have given a tremendous boost to some departments letting them jump decades ahead of where their water operations used to be. On the flip side. Due to the "Defund the police" movement, I know of 9 departments (none in my state thankfully) that have had to drop their water program completely, due to this cut... Also until the early 2000s most investigators didn't even think that water submergence was applicable to their incident. I am glad in recent times that new education is put to them on underwater scenes, and changed their lines of thinking. Groups like Jacob's, AWP, and my own have formed to fill in that large gap where departments don't have capability, and to this day, I have not met a single detective or investigator up here in Michigan, that wasn't happy to have us help, and wished more groups were around. As far as other departments not going back into their cold cases once they get resources, I can't give an answer to that, and you and I share the same anger over that...
