The only thing about diatomaceous earth is when it rains or gets wet you have to keep applying it again when it stops raining and dries up a little because it looses it's effectiveness, but it will eventually kill the bugs you just have to put a good amount down! It just depends on which kind you got the human grade or the insect kind . If you got the insect kind you only supposed to put it only around the base of the plant which stinks. The human grade is the one you can generously put a good amount down everywhere in your pots or in your beds.

Oh wow, I didn't know that about the different grades!

Your garden is hanging like a champion. The brassicas love this weather. I have been waiting for the 50's so they can start sweeten up some. We should have a light frost on Friday maybe. It's suppose to get down to 38 here.

Yes that frost brings out the sweetness

Yes ma'am, the mornings have been cold here in Texas. My bean plant has still been producing as well to my surprise 😅. Next week we're going to have a few nights in the 30's. 🥶 Your garden is lovely ❤. Thanks for sharing.

My bean plants don't like our Summers, I started just planting them in the fall. What part of Texas are you in?

Cynthia, when your pigeon pea dies, don't throw it away. Take the leaves and the whole pigeon tree, break it up, and bury it in the soil in one of your beds or even one of your fruit trees that, like a lot of nitrogen, it will release it's nitrogen into the soil! I used to grow them all the time until the lady that I used to buy them from moved, and no one knows where she moved too. I wish I knew where to buy them again, I really miss growing them. Mines was more like a tree because it was planted in the ground and the roots like a lot of room to spread but won't mess with your other plants from growing. You should plant one next year in one of your beds in the corner and watch what I mean. It'll grow like your jamaican sorrel, I don't know if it will grow as big as it, but who knows, it might you live in a warmer climate than I do! I live in MA. and my pigeon pea was about 4' - 4 1/2 ' tall and about 2 1/2' - 3' wide. Just a tip on it to let you know in case you want to try it and see how it will grow for you!

I couldn’t get borage to do much through spring and summer. I decided to replant it as the summer ended. Finally, I have some borage. I planted it in a container and in a bed. It is doing well in both places.
