UPDATE: We did a mistake and didn't place a splash filter properly. This change will make a drip rate adjustment much easier (even with a darker AeroPresses). We will check the manuals and instructions more carefully next time:)

@J S whaaa my experience is completely the opposite. Perhaps it's a concentrate and you didn't dilute it?
@hi12349

Leave a 600 mL bottle of water in the fridge, then freezer for 45 min to get it really cold. Take it out and put a pin through the lid, turn upside down onto the aeropress and put a pin through the base of the bottle and leave the pin in. You should get a drip rate of around 60 drips per minute.

Great tips guys. I guess all these hacks were inspiration for the Puck Puck guys to turn it into the product. You are right that you don't need it and you can build it yourself.

I’d just add drip/French sized grounds to a mason jar shake up and let it sit in the fridge 12-16 hrs (before leaving for school/work, etc.) pour and press through either an aeropress with a reusable filter or a French press. Super easy. Nothing fancy. French presses can be found cheap in the home good aisles of department stores. For large amounts like a pitcher you can probably use a colander over a cheese cloth. Side note: spent coffee grounds in your plumbing clumps together. Make sure to compost it in your garden or dispose of some other way to avoid costly problems.

Nice video! I believe the drip screen is supposed to rest of the coffee bed, not stay locked in the top. I have an older version of the aeropress too and if I put the screen on the bed, I don't have an issue seeing the drips.
@EuropeanCoffeeTrip
@EuropeanCoffeeTrip 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Adam! It was our mistake, I tried again, and it is much easier to set up the drip rate. We should read the instruction carefully next time:) I thought that splash screen is designed similar to the batch brews and other brewers. I was wrong:)

Haha, you are right Laurens! We tried again in a correct way and it is much easier. Official canister makes it way less portable so we didn't order it but we could mention it. Cheers.

How does the result compare to Alan Adler's cold brew?
@vojtechpilar5809
@vojtechpilar5809 6 жыл бұрын
For 20 Pounds this certainly isn't cheaper than many cold brew coffee maker alternatives. Especially if you don't own an Aeropress yet. I also fail to understand how this is portable since you need an Aeropress and a plastic bottle or the vessel. It all together makes the same size of an average cold brew coffee maker... Who makes cold brew on the way anyway? It looks cool, though. Thanks for the great review!
@EuropeanCoffeeTrip
@EuropeanCoffeeTrip 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for comment Vojtech. It is true that the Kickstarter price was better than this. We have to mention that cold drip coffee and cold brew coffee is a slightly different technique and cold drip station are not very cheap! What it comes to the portability, if you already have the AeroPress, you can buy water battle anywhere in the world and Puck Puck itself is of pocket size. I don't think you would use it to make cold drip coffee while hiking but for a vacation or a more extended stay, it can work well I think.

You forgot to mention the splash filter and if we should rinse the paper filter or not, or boom the coffee with some extra water for a few seconds :)

@EuropeanCoffeeTrip 6 жыл бұрын
Good point, Martin. We stopped rinsing the paper filter after our discussion with Alan Adler, the inventor of the AeroPress. He did taste comparisons and didn't find the difference. We didn't do any bloom neither. As for the splash filter, we did actually a mistake and didn't use it properly:(

When serving do you diloute the coffee?
@EuropeanCoffeeTrip

It depends on your preference but often you dilute it with water, ice or even with some other ingredient. Often, you can use it to create coffee drinks (we will have a video about it soon on the channel).

@schristofersen 6 жыл бұрын
you don't actually need the puck puck. you can simply cut off the bottom of any water bottle that will sit on top of the aeropress. Put the coffee in the aeropress, put another filter paper that has been rinsed on top of the coffee in the aeropress, adjust the drip rate from the bottle but slightly untwisting the cap. When you have the drip rate to around 50pm fill the bottle with ice and water and put on top of the aeropress. enjoy.
@EuropeanCoffeeTrip
