22:06 If you look in the background, there's a marina with a canal to the right. I've caught good consistent fish there. Sometimes just try close to the launch. They are stocked in those lakes.

I fished that same spot yesterday, prefishing for a BFL on 3/19. Caught 4 fish, two were around 2lbs and 2 were over 4lbs. Supposed to be cold front conditions again the day of the tournament.

Brian, I would have chosen a different way. To invest the time available at the end of day one. In order to practice.
@academicmailbox77982 жыл бұрын
I think that I'd probably have cycled my way through some other bait and lure types (other than flipping bites). In those areas. Where you were already making connections with those fish. Around those lilly pad areas. See if they would 'lock in' to any other kind of bait. Other than the flipping baits. Why? Well, I'd agree with you. The bite evolved. As 'the day' went on. There is something however, that people who aren't familiar with 'island' climates (Florida State for all intents and purposes is like an oceanic 'island' climate system). From a point of view of fishing. Meaning that. You really can get 'three to four seasons'. In a single day's length.
@academicmailbox77982 жыл бұрын
People in America who come from more continental weather systems. Don't really get that. I agree that there was the shad spawn pattern. In morning. The flipping bite in late morning and mid day. However, there was a 'third' bite. That rolled into it. Towards the end of your fishing day (what effectively became 'practice'). And what you needed to do. At that point I think. Was not really to run new areas. But to run new baits and lure types. For the duration of that hour's practice. At the end of the day. And basically whistle-stop, bus-stop tour. You're way all of the ways. Back to the ramp for check-in. The areas didn't really matter. All you are doing. Is figuring out a way. To cycle through some different lures. On your way back to weigh-in. As that 'bite' that you mentioned. Which changed from morning to midday. Changed again from midday to evening time.
@academicmailbox77982 жыл бұрын
I would have locked a jerk bait lure. Into my hand. Or a swimbait (or even a version of that spinner bait with that trailer). Except, in a version that had almost no skirt, and small willow 'blades' maybe. A very subtle type of spinner bait design. That you could almost fish it like a jerk bait. Almost suspending. What that would enable you to do. Is to fish the gaps and open spaces. That existed between the lilly pads (the flipping stick is ideal for when the fish are glued to those lilly pad areas). But for the evening bite. You might find those fish change strategy. And they are more inclined to chase after something. That is fairly subtle. That day changed again for the third phase. I would argue there was almost a third bite. That could have provided a different kind of fish. To the earlier two bites. If one could figure out. Exactly how to fish it. And the areas. Would not actually matter that much. It would just be a bus-stop type deal. All of the ways back to the ramp. Casting for opportunity's sake.
@academicmailbox77982 жыл бұрын
A bit like saltwater fishing to be honest (in saltwater fishing, it's a restricted bite window). That is running out very fast. So while location or area has something to do with. It's also an opportunistic fishing approach too in saltwater fishing. You can't afford to be too picky. About your area. It's just something that happens very quickly, and one has to 'make do'. I would argue that evening (or post midday bite). On a lake like Harris. Is something like that. A bite in which, you don't have to be as area specific. As the early two phases. The morning and the midday phase. By the time you get to the post-midday. You know that those bass. Are going to find some way. To get their aggressive behavior out of their system. And the most likely time in which that would happen. Is in the third phase. One would have to figure out the lure, that would take best advantage of that phase.
