B-Lat. You will probably never see this, but I can tell you that you have the best fishing channel on KZbin! I have been struggling with Fluorocarbon on my spinning reel for years, and I tried your tip about stretching it out and it has worked wonders. Also, I only use the Polymer Knot and the Alberto knot you tie for braid to leader. We are one in the same when it comes to knots. I do know a few other knots, but rarely ever use them. Best of luck to you and your family and hope you continue winning tournaments and keep up the channel and make a bunch of $$$$.

B Lat I live here and fish St Lawrence every weekend in summer, one rule to remember about our Smallmouth closer you get to lake Onterio the bigger the Smallies get in general that is why a lot of Pros will make the long runs. Did you see the big bags the elite series pulled fishing out of Clayton because they could fish the lake and lower part of the river. i fish a lot out of Fishers landing and have no issue getting 20 to 25 lbs best five. Man I know this place can be expansive and get frustrating there is a lot of smaller fish just got to keep at it big one will group up together, you get on one of the groups and that is a winning day! Man I would love to take you out in the off season show you the river!

I see some of the anglers on those small mouth events. They come off the water after one day's worth of fishing. With the task of just re-tying and re-spooling. For six or seven spinning reel and drop shot riggings that evening (having broken all of them off in the event). And according to what you said, maybe had broken off. On six or seven drop-shot rods. Multiple times during the day too. I didn't know that about fluorocarbon line and stretching it though. It makes a lot of sense to me. What the small mouth game does ask, is if the fish are not biting. And the drop shot does not work. Then what does one change to? There is no easy answer to that. No magic alternative bait that one can change to. It tends to funnel the strategy into a kind of cul-de-sac place. Where's it's hard to wriggle back out (sort of like in MMA in cage matches, getting pinned to the floor with no options). In some kind of head lock. I think that casting direction and simple stuff like that. Has to count for something. Something that one can make adjustments to. In some meaningful way, without needing to run miles. Or throw out one's existing strategy altogether. There must be some basic modifications that one can make. To change up the game. Color, bait size, casting direction. Fundamental things.

I've always associated Brian Latimer as one of those anglers, who approaches fishing from a basic enough point of view. That when he's caught in one of those death grip kind of situations (there are many of those Elite Bassmaster anglers on Lake Oahe today, who seemed to be wandering around that lake, looking like they were lost completely). Brian is one of those anglers, who knows the mixed martial art of fishing. Where's he's able to escape from the situation. Or at the very least, explain a way to get out of a jam. To find some way to vary things. Even when one is reduced down, to using a very restricted set of tools. To fish with. There are some of those kayak anglers who can throw a Slugo, or fluke style bait. All day long at the bank. And be perfectly happy making it work, doing everything with the one tool almost. And other anglers I think, won't be happy doing that at all. It could be argued though, that in days of old in bass fishing. Before people had lots and lots of variety available. Or even knew the various kinds of baits, that they could use. Anglers were far more happy and content. To go out and throw something. That was the exact same, all day long.
@academicmailbox7798
@academicmailbox7798 2 жыл бұрын
In the old days, when the fishing magazines and media came along. It was really the task of the marketing divisions in those companies. That made different kinds of baits. To convince the customer, that they needed to vary their palette. And try out different tastes. Consumers were introduced to variety, and perhaps even temptation. And that was exactly the thing that some anglers needed. They did need and want to vary their palette. To have ten rods, with ten completely different lures tied on (and when you tie on different lures, then you suddenly need different lines, riggings, reels and rods). In mathematical terms, the number of options and adjustments. It becomes extremely large in number, quite fast. Someone mentioned recently, the thing about different gear ratio's in fishing reels. They asked whether or not, that was advisable to get into. I listened to that angler describe lately, the sevent 'drop shot' rods on the boat deck, that were all broken off in the day's fishing. And I thought to myself. Well that is really a throw back to a simpler time in fishing. When everything we did. Involved a lot less options (and as mentioned, I think it's the reason why some anglers opted to fish in kayak boats instead). That it did, is it forced them to narrow in and focus.
@academicmailbox7798
@academicmailbox7798 2 жыл бұрын
The last thing about having too many options, available to fish on the boat deck. In the old days, I can remember many anglers I knew. Who would carry two fishing rod set up's to fish. And those two rod set up's, were very different from each other. Meaning that, when they set down one rod. And picked up the other. It was a really significant and meaningful change of approach. Of tactics. For a particular piece of water. There is only so much time available in the day, and only so many places that one can cover and fish. Throwing two fundamentally different lures, in as many likely fish holding places as you can. Is not a bad strategy. And it's a real old strategy. Different to strategy where one has ten or twelve different options. Rods, reels, lures and lines. And you're fishing against the clock. It's amazing the number of professional anglers. On the Tackle Warehouse circuit, who will still go into rod lockers. In mid tournament. Because the ten options lying on the front deck of the boat. Doesn't have what they want. They've additional things stored in the rod locker. It's kind of like that poker player at the table. Who doesn't have enough cards in their hand. And keeps on trying to buy more cards from the dealer. To see if the luck might change. Being in the kayak boat, and with more limited fishing time or area. You end up with four or five cards you can play. And you have to focus on what those are.
