Thanks for taking us along again! Another great vid. You boys should head north to New Brunswick on one of your next adventures and try canoeing the Nepisiguit River from Mt. Carleton to Bathurst , It would be epic and I'm sure you'd love it. Hopefully the boarders open up soon. Take'r easy and see ya on the next one!

I've worked my whole 37 year career as a geologist in Nova Scotia so watching your vids brings back lots of memories. Tell me, why do you not disclose the names of the rivers and lakes you travel?
@georgeoreilly70163 жыл бұрын
BTW the quartz is deposited from hydrothermal fluids not geothermal fluids. Slight difference.
@NorthernScavenger3 жыл бұрын
Thanks George! Regarding the rivers, I have decided not to share locations as I have found there has been implications with promoting specific locations on social media and the internet. It is not my intent to point people in the direction of a specific spot, rather promote Nova Scotia as a whole for it's beauty and diversity.

Another great video, reminds me of similar spring trips in the Tobeatic and Medway wilderness areas. Loved the geology lesson- I live on a drumlin, many of the older houses around here were located on them. As for the widow maker, might have been safer to use a long rope and shake the tree from 10 or more feet away, stand behind another( healthy )tree.cheers.

Here on the coast of Maine, just off New Brunswick most of our rivers and streams have a good drop some class 5 most heavy 3 or 4 and are not passable in canoe, just as they hit tidal water, I waiting to see if you encounter the same drop at tidal water. Love the geology talk, have you listened to Kosmographia with Randal Carlson? He has a whole podcast, video on Drumlins. .Yeah, similar river situation, that sweet river may be a bit more ledgey than what we have. Black flies are just out here, well they've been out for a week. Nice trout!
@NorthernScavenger3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the note. The last 2 kms were very steep and the bridge we took out at was tidal water. I have not listened to Randal Carlson, appreciate the recommendation!

I don't know much about the KZbin algorithm but I would suggest making the video titles more in line with what people are likely to search or are interested in, to potentially boost viewers. @jimf19643 жыл бұрын
Interesting video Noah. Though it's obvious in hind sight, I never thought why you're many rivers aren't navigable. Also I LOVE the rid bits you give about glacial activity. I mean our whole country, from the Great Lakes, to small, low hills in our back yards are because of those things coming and going away. Is there any good in those quartz seams?
@NorthernScavenger3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jim, hydrothermal fluid can not only precipitate quartz but also gold, so if you find high-quality quartz veins there is a possibility of gold. A lot of mining companies will investigate large thrust faults that have complex vein networks as indicators of this. Red Lake, Ontario is a great example.
@jimf19643 жыл бұрын
Northern Scavenger Yes, I've learned from watching many mining shows and docs that quartz veins can have gold. That's why I asked about the ones out there. I've heard something about gold in Ontario, know almost nothing about it. I'll look up red lake. Thanks.

Question - It seems like you guys use mostly gravity water filters(?), is that mostly due to water volume or ?? Just curious if you have tried other filters over the course of time. Thx, enjoyed the trip !
@NorthernScavenger3 жыл бұрын
Gravity filters are great because of volume and because you can filter water passively while you do other things. I also use the tablets but I'm not a fan of the chemicals.
