Turn the auto choke 45 degrees to the right, this will help the warm up faster and hence idle better sooner

I had a 1983 Civic sedan with the same engine, loved that car. I bought it new in Oct '83, and had it until Dec of '95. It was a manual, great car. I just bought a 2015 Honda Civic LX with a 5 speed manual, looking forward to owning a Civic again

Doesn't it have a manual choke? Having a properly setup choke while automatic or manual could really help startup.

looks good man! I'm about to do this finally on my 81 and was wondering why you switched the carb around the other way and I didn't see one but herd you gotta run a fuel pressure regulator did you have to?

I saw all those same things when i was mocking up the install on mine, except instead of doing all that odd stuff with teh throttle and the base plate with the brake booster vacuum. and the gas pedal stop out and the throttle mods. LOL I turned the plates around on the intake and installed the entire thing with the throttle on the other side and re routed the cable. and it works perfectly. fired right up no joke.

where did you wire up your electronic choke? mine will start up but it will not idle by itself until warmed up and after a few pumps on the gas pedal.

Daniel Naymark That probably depends on where you are. Here in WA it's considered a classic so it doesn't need inspection.

I bet if you hooked up the valve cover breather to the carb it'll warm up faster.

exactly thats why honda did that in the first place people need to use that more often. it just annoys me when they put a air filter on it.... lol

uh no, the crankcase vent is not for that...Along with the original airbox there was a tube that fed air from an exhaust shield to the top of the airbox...The crankcase vent is to vent the crankcase and recirculate any oil or fluids that may result.....
