Cold Start (-20) Toyota Echo

2003 Toyota Echo cold start with the 1.5L in -20 degree celsius weather in northern Canada.

I saw a Toyota Sienta attempt a -43C cold start that had not been plugged into an engine block heater and it still fired up on the first try, simply could not believe it. That is Toyota quality for you.

Mine has 350000 KM and started when it was -35 here in Edmonton no problem.

I have be drinking sn RS hatch for the last couple years. Coming up on 200k. It’s the best daily runner I’ve ever had. Love these cars.

I got 280,000 miles on my Scion xA (same drivetrain). They just keep going.

Echo?? Its Toyota Yaris.

Basically. Echo was the export name given to these line of cars that were made for Canadian/U.S domestic markets as well as Australia/NZ.

NEVER rev a cold engine! 80% of all engine wear is at a cold start up. Let it warm up normally at a normal RPM. And ALWAYS use Full Synthetic oil.

What are you talking about 😂 The car is at idle the entire video and the car burns synthetic oil. I own 2 older Toyotas and both leak out of every rubber gasket and burn oil when running synthetic, doesn’t do either with conventional. The smaller molecules of synthetic on a high mileage older car like this is a disaster but thanks for the free advice.
