Had to do some plowing, and figured a cold start at 2.5 degrees could be interesting.

Thanks for the tip. I have everything on trickle chargers too.

I really should have Marys mower on one, being a seasonal unit, that one doesn't move all winter.

Great instructional video. My Yanmar will run the manifold heater while it cranks but the switch has to be turned the opposite way. My NH mower is like your RTV 900 but has a timer...maybe yours is a timer, I did not catch that. I did notice on that one the glowplugs light while you are cranking. I need glowplugs at 90F with that dog. When I bought the Jeep Cherokee my Duramax got kicked outside. I am not going to attempt that until Sunday and plug in the block heater. I will drive it Monday and Tuesday to keep at least a schedule to drive it at least every two weeks.

1crazynordlander No timer on any of mine, all lower end machines. They really should have put that in all of them. My old excavator had had one.

My NH lawn mower is pretty void of gauges but does have the timer. The NH L565 skidsteer however has a digital panel. It does count down by numbers. I think the most I have seen outside is 8 seconds. The first time ever I have to get it started around 20F the display said COLD. It started. I will cycle the switch two times to heat it up good. NH runs Shibaura diesels in their small tractors and skidsteers. They are very cold blooded but do start with glow plugs. My Yanmar diesel will start down to 30F without too much coaxing. My Duramax will start down to 6F as far as I know from experience without a block heater.

Our Tractor about 10 seconds is enough, the RTV takes about 30, its a little more cold blooded. Marys mower takes about 60 seconds (In the summer) But that engine is well used.......

Neat trick. I started my Kubota yesterday and while I don't have that option, I do cycle the glow plug on several times before the start.

Does yours have the glow plug setting on the reverse side of the switch turn?
@wyattoneable6 жыл бұрын
No, but the glow plug is on a timer and shuts off automatically. I can shut the key off and turn it back to the glow plug position and it will heat again but after a start the key rests in the glow plug position and the timer won't allow me to re-energize it. (That I know of)

AHhh, yea, I forgot all about the fancier ones! My excavator has its glow position in the reverse so I can't do it with that either. I had a box truck once with the timer, I kinda liked that, because it takes out some of the guess work. I'm not really sure why that wasn't on all of them right from the begining, its not like thats a terribly difficult circuit to put together.

It works good. The tractor fired right up when the temp was around 16F. Like you I sit and let the engine warm up before I start moving. And then I move slow thinking I'm saving oil seals around any output shafts but who knows if that helps.

wyattoneable I like to think it does as well.
