Cold Start & Test Running of 43082 & 43073 at the Colne Valley Railway | 125 Heritage Group |

We were invited by the 125 Heritage group to head back down to the Colne Valley Railway to observe the first cold start of 43082 since it was shut down in December 2020 and stored in Long Marston. We filmed a variety of shots including the cold start, some shots of the power cars in motion and a cab ride.
Unfortunately 43073 could not be started due to some minor problems but was hooked up in multi and acted as a dummy car. After the Power Car was successfully started with the, assistance of some EMR Fitters and some Mainline drivers, the group decided to take 43082 and 43073 out for some running tests.
We were fortunate enough to be allowed on board and filmed some footage inside the cab while the power cars were In motion. 43082 ran successfully under its own power for the whole day which allowed us to get many pictures and videos. Both power cars are fitted with Paxman VP185 engines, and as a result made an amazing sight during the start up!

Great to see them moving under their own power again. Would love to see more preserved on heritage lines with a small rake of coaches so they be enjoyed for years yet

Defo Sir. I feel the same. I watched a video of said scenario. The video was ace but the way the train was ran, on a constant coast - it was frustrating. My suggestion was to have the two power cars with an old school livery rake, stopping at good spots on a line, to then see the train pull off with turbo whistle - a bit of thrash and the twin diagonal clag clouds ! Being expressive can sometimes be a crime - if so, ignore the above and settle your brain with; Excellent, cheers 👍👍

Great video and great to see a HST under power at the CVR. Now all they need to do is clear the running line for 125mph LOL! One end of the line to the other in 30 seconds! Hope the 125 Heritage group might plan on doing driver experience sessions on their HST, I'd definitely put my name on the list.

Great sounding engines, but I miss that distinct turbo scream from the old Valentas, but probably the engines were not worked hard enough to get the turbos going.
