Well at the during the end of CS1 and during CS2 they reference a trip that the class made to Ymir... That sequence isnt in CS1, and they reference it more than a few times. From what I read it was an audio drama that has never been released in the US. So... yeah it's kinda interesting when series do stuff like that. Still it's not nearly as bad as the .Hack series was with things split between anime, manga, games and other media. That series was impossible to get the entire story.
@tinyprawnie81012 жыл бұрын
@@Drakenrahll A bit late, but it is actually possible to read the translated transcripts of the audio drama. On CS2's main menu, it gives you an option for recaps, and there's a link to the website on there.

The world building in this game is insane! There are a lot of factions, all vying for control. There are the shadow factions, like the witches, the covert division of the church, ouroboros, the intelligence division - all pulling their strings from the shadows. And then there are the public facing side as well. The bracers, the empire and republic, the nobles and the Liberl monarchy. Amazing stuff!
@Exleman5 жыл бұрын
Yoo thank you so much, I would've had no idea this existed. That's absurd to lock something so seemingly important behind NG+, some of these games are too long for me to even want to finish a first time much less a second, that's nuts
@MajorJak5 жыл бұрын
I still don't really understand why the items you need(+cutscene) are only available in NG+... *sigh* once I noticed how fun it was to talk to every NPC in earlier games I did the same in CS2 and so my first playhtrough became about 200+ hours long and I loved every second of it XD. I knew I might still miss some stuff without a guide but I'm fine with that but when I heard about THIS after my first playthru.... I can say for a 100% certainty I would have found all those items and the cutscene if they were not NG+ exclusive. And that feels a bit with lack of a better word "stupid". Now excuse me I have work to do in Crossbell.
@evewhoo5 жыл бұрын
I'm personally fine with it. I intended to replay both I and II from the very beginning, as well as the sky trilogy. I'm aiming for nightmare completionist so going for NG+ was on my list anyway.
@MajorJak5 жыл бұрын
@@evewhoo I did my first playthrough on Nightmare and also like to go completionist in the first playthrough(still need to redo sky tho XD) but I dunno... I don't think major story parts should be hidden away in a 2nd playthrough + I simply prefer finding everything around me on the first playthrough, find some special quotes or some easter egg in NG+ sure that's cool but this is a step too far for most people I think, I believe even Falcom want people to work for it and figure out to see that cutscene in-game but.. what if they prefer playing on NG and not NG+? They could never see this without outside help in that case. I want people to experience that moment but a big part of those people will likely just go start CS3. Anyroad I like doing NG+ in the end but not for story reasons I guess.
@LeonGun85 жыл бұрын
Heh, you think that's bad. At least you can find those items relatively easy on your NG+. In Ao there's pieces of important lore that only come up if you do certain very specific things. Like how they only mention the Steel Maiden's possible identity if you manage to beat her. If you lose (which is very easy to do) the mystery remains until Laura mentions it in Cold Steel 2.

I already played a ng+ in both games and really I wasn't expecting such a cannon storyline scene to be in ng+. I agree with you that the average player won't even consider replaying the game unless they really liked it because man aren't kiseki games in general so long huh, you really need to enjoy the ride and have patience as you can't skip dialogues and cutscenes even if you are in ng+ (they really should've added that feature). As I fulfilled those two previous conditions and also wanted to do a trophy completionist run with a guide and wreck every enemy in the game with my transferred lvls quartz and equipment (like that invincible mc burn at chapter 1), I happened to find this extra cannon scene, but yeah, average player replaying in a ng+? Not likely to happen. Btw I'll need a 3rd playthrough for the platinum trophy because I always got past millium events without caring for her character (least favourite of class 7 for me, until I watched some footage and spoilers from cs 3 and 4 that is), thus making her final event unavailable at the end of the game and well sh*t happens now I need to replay it a 3rd time just for millium final bonding event x.x

I've already put a ton of hours into this series (Sky - Cold Steel) and playing some of them multiple times on different platforms like above so....I'll be sure to take note of this when I hop onto CS3 since I didn't play that one yet. I love this series but honestly I'm not really a NG+ person though. I generally beat a game then go to something else then may come back as a refresher and this is super time consuming. I feel like NG+ should be mainly for smaller games that are quick to beat (Way Of The Samurai series does this the best).

This new plot twist wasn't a huge surprise to me, especially after playing Trails in the Sky. I recommend you to play that series before CS3. And I finished the game in 110 hours. Granted I played it on hard which lead to longer battles and some restarts, but I don't get how you can finish it in half of that time. Are you expected to play via a guide or something? That would be ridiculous.

I am glad that they can include cloud saves from the first 2 from the PS3 and Vita titles. ^^ As I already had them both beat on the ita wich should make doing NG+ on these easy for me. XD

It’s not an incredibly big deal if you didn’t. I went from 1 to 2 to ng+ 1 and then 3 released for pc, and I’m managing

As someone who got into the series because of the heavy lore and marathoned the games back to back.Hearing that I missed something because it’s NG+ annoys me a bit.

I beated Cold Steel 1 easily without the need to NG+ or cared to NG+ RPGs thinking the plot is sufficient... But hiding this many plot into NG+ for CS2 means i'll save myself the trouble and look it up when CS3 comes out...

I've only played TOCS 1 & 2, haven't played the earlier games, but done NG+ on both of the ones I have. So playing the earlier games would be a good idea, but not a requirement? Also, while the game may come out for PS4 in fall, do we have any information on when/if it'll be available for PC/steam? Tfw no PS4...

well in my opinion you don't absolutely have to play them, but you will feel lost when meeting some characters and seeing some events because you have no clue what is happening. The best example i can give you is that interlude with loyd and rixia in CS2. You don't know who they are , what they are doing or why you are playong them if you only know cold steel. It will be like that but a lot more. As for PC release we have no idea but since it's NISA unless there is a problem on the technical side the port shouldn't take too long. The only thing we might have to worry is the quality .

@@aleixiel_1729 I see, yeah I did feel very confused with Loyd and Rixia appearing, guess I'll at the very least attempt to play the earlier legend of hero games. Worst case scenario I'll spoil myself and read/watch something on the internet to find out I guess, or knowing me if the port is done by then I'll say whatever and play CS3 anyway. And I did hear that NISA was gonna do the port, but I have no idea how long they take with that kind of thing, I guess I just won't assume anything and cry myself to sleep until they do finish it. Thank you very much for your quick, thoughtful and well informed reply, I really, really appreciate it!

@@Icemon2705 oh by the way do remember that you wont find any official translation of crossbell but there are perfectly playable versions that are fan made by geofront. As for the time it will take for NISA to port the game to PC, well they learned from the port of Ys 8 so they shouldnt have that many problems. The ps4 version is scheduled for autumn 2019 so based on that i would say something like winter. So my guess would be late 2019 to early 2020. That should leave you enough time to play a few hopefully
