I've owned one of these since 2001. It has withstood everything that I have thrown at it. Very good investment of a small amount of money.

These cheap cold steel knives are terrific. I bought a drop forged hunter- great steel (52100 carbon). Awesome on game, throwing at trees and battoning

Always remember, when using a ferro rod, hold the blade stationary over the tinder and pull the ferro rod backward. Much more accurate than holding the ferro rod stationary and pushing the blade forward!

I do both, depending on how the item scrapes.

I've had this for years, it's well worth the price for what it is.

I have one on an old corn broom handle as my "house spear" for lack of better terminology, and another one on a 2ft length of oak dowel rod that I use as a chopper. I got the first one years ago when they had the cheap, junkie nylon sheath and the second one right after they first came out with the hard plastic sheath. I lile the hard plastic sheath better. You can beat the deal on these workhorses. Both of mine are the drop point. The Bowie style is just not built for how I use them. If I need a smaller knife, I just pull put the Pocket Bushman that I got for like $20 when Hector was a pup. You can't beat that value either. The PB is for all intents and purposes, indestructible, "the folder that acts like a fixed blade". The return for investment on any of the CS Bushman series is phenomenal, as long as they are original Cold Steel production. GSM versions are garbage. They took a good cheap knife and made it into a cheap knife that isn't worth using as a tent stake, for free.

Prepared Mind 101 proved that Old Cold Steel tips dont break so easy. The new China GSM knives are crap

In Thailand there are knives that are very cheap, and they have this one as made for gardening and farming. It's between $3.00 and $6.00 USD. Can be found at HomePro, SCG, and Thai Wasadu stores, similar to Home Depot in the U.S. and Canada. The Thai version is not as refined in finish. They have lacquer shinny finish to them. Otherwise, the knives are almost identical.

I have had one for a long time. I even learned how to throw a spear with it.

Owned one in the past. Great knife but it gave me four stitches because I didn’t see the warning on the sheath 😂

Ouch. That’s why I mentioned it.

I have one and kept rolling the edge so I changed the edge angle from 20 to 22 and it becomes more durable,

This is just a zagaia, a bralilian knife that is used as the point of a spear. Brazilians used this in the past to kill jaguars in close combat.

The condor Matagi knife does this better.

The OLD ones are solid. If you can find one grab it. New ones are horrible quality.

i beat the crap out of this knife. i split oak with it for 2 years for fires. this is hands down the toughest knife for the price.
