koga is not meant to cause any serious injury it is designed to hurt not kill thats why its not made of a heavy metal
@Reviewsandmore8 жыл бұрын
completely agree. It is meant to be non-lethal. That is kind of what the video supports. Although the average coconut is a pit stronger than the average human skull.

Having a non-lethal option is smart. The Koga should be part of any self-defense arsenal.

Was never designed as a skull crusher - it is designed for pressure point application.

I've seen people break coconuts with their index knuckle, elbows and fists. Several in 10 seconds. I have this weapon. Using it properly, it is devastating. Cold Steel is genius for making it.

Regarding the "aim for the head" comment, non lethal weapons are not designed to penetrate or to be used for head strikes. To use them that way would make you responsible for any lethal result. These types of weapons are meant to be used on pressure points, nerve centers, and joints. Refer to any proper training in non lethal weapons in law enforcement (or comparable martial art where these originate) for nightsticks or expandable batons as well as kubotans (same concept of use as this koga, yawara sticks, etc.). The trainee is taught to never intentionally target the head. the most common areas to strike with these types of weapons are hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders, solar plexus, etc. The intended use in real world situations are extremely effective.

WTF is the point of this? You want to kill someone by cracking their skull? Or do you want to open coconuts LOL. The Koga is meant to inflict pain with little injury (unless it goes in an eye). Short fast concentrated strieks and pressure point work. Not skull piercing !!
@peacefuljeffrey6 жыл бұрын
To be fair, the strikes you were giving it weren’t full force strikes. I don’t know how a human skull compares to a coconut where structural resistance to being punctured by a koga is concerned; but try just giving moderate pokes to your own head using a koga (even a blunted one) - that shit is no joke! (By the way, the strength you’re talking about isn’t “tensile strength.”)

Into the temple or throat is still a potential killing strike, so I'd be careful with it.

If you want to crack coconuts, buy a hammer. If you want a non-lethal self defense tool, that is easily carried, can pass thru metal detectors, and can increase the pain factor of your hammerfist strike by about 200% then buy the Koga. To learn how to use it properly, search Filipino Dulo-Dulo

Your "testing" is a false premise. First of all if you strike someone with the Koga in a hammer strike motion, it will hurt flesh and bone. I wouldn't want to get hit with it. Would you? If you're trying to murder someone, then get a real hammer to break through their skull. But, if you're just trying to get someone off you and make them think twice about attacking you...I think the Koga would work just fine, if used properly and with sufficient force.

@@Reviewsandmore No offense, I got that, but my point is that it's bad enough uncle Sam is attempting to take our second amendment from us amongst others, we don't need some dirty politician to take a look at this video and try to ban every other self protection products, because if it can perforate a coconut, it can perforate a skull!

Are you trying to kill someone or fight off an attacker?? I’m pretty sure anyone hit in the head with that will most likely decide to flee from attacking. If your intentions are to literally crack a human skull with it, maybe you should seek professional help and reconsider your options...
@Reviewsandmore4 жыл бұрын
really i just wanted to see some coconuts break...but sadly this did not happen....however....the notion of "fighting off" and attacker is a bit vague....if you are being attacked...mugger....rapist....or anyone seeking to harm you....your only goal is to be alive at the end of the transaction...."fighting off" makes it sound like you throw a punch..square off and then you are safe....that is not the reality...you fight until you are safe and know that you will leave breathing....whether or not the attacker is breathing is entirely irrelevant.
@dalehackler77524 жыл бұрын
One hit with this to the head and an attacker will likely run off. Regardless, there are better ways to survive an attack. First and foremost, the best option is to not become a target to begin with. Secondly, learn better tactics to surviving an attack than to just hold a weapon you aren’t trained with and expect it to defend you. If you’re not trained in using a Koga SD-2 then you really cannot understand and comprehend the benefits to it, in that case I suggest you take a firearms course and apply for a concealed carry permit and take some further training courses on defending yourself with a firearm. There are also many other martial arts courses to train yourself how to defend yourself. Even a simple pocket knife can be lethally dangerous to an attacker even in untrained hands. All in all, training and education will go much further than just making a purchase of a tool and expecting it to save your life.
