Say Heah Blackie, After watching your videos on Khukuris vs. Kukuris, I could understand a Kukuri Machete also. But my Cold Steel Kukuri Plus in O1 is defenetly not a Machete but Kukuri. Because my Kukuri Plus is 5/16" thick, no flex at all. I made a great combo with it, I teamed mine with a Cold Steel San Mai 3 Master Hunter for a lovely piece of kit. Usually with this combo, I find all I need is my Wicked Tough Saw and I'm pretty much set. Although I also bring my Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter Folder as a back-up. Thanx You, Blackie for all your educational videos on Khukuris and Kukuris and Kukuri Machetes.,,.p

Thanks mate great review, I note that Cold Steel have discontinued a lot of their old machete stuyles like the Kopis, Bowie and Norse Sax but the Kukri remains in their lineup, so I guess that is a strong indicator of popularity if not performance

outstanding review. i wish all people could give a quality review of a exceptional tool like the khukuri knife. i have 2 and i supplement each with a sog fusion tomahawk. another outstanding tool for larger cutting work. after all its all about burning less calories for the task you have at hand. hope to see more reviews from you sir.

for the angle i simply followed the bevel line that is about a half inch above the factory edge...i used a long file and took my time..it is ineffect a short scandi edge now...be sure to keep the edge even on both sides if you take too much off one side it will cause the edge profile to roll to one side...thansk for the comment,,safe journeys

Nice mods man, I have the longer version and I love it. By the way I'm pretty sure it's 1055 not 1095, that's why it's so flexible.
@morpheoist
@morpheoist 3 жыл бұрын
a 1095 of the same thickness will be flexible in the same way, perhaps even more in a range of 54-58 HRC ....

Great review Brother. I have 3 of these waiting for me at a friends shop. Great for the money, and yes, very versital. Ill stick with my shorter blades for car-jacking defense though....lol I cant swing that thing iside my car. Good common mans machete as well.

@marcomontana22..the golok is a design i havent tried..having said that it seems a bit awkward to me..the #1 service with its horn handle does transmitt shock to the palm a little too well..thats why i prefer the villager with its full tang and slab handles it has less felt shock to me..the cold steel is a lot toughter than it looks..and is my truck kukri.it serves very well..i have seen that condor makes a kukri..maybe it would serve as a worthy compromise between the service and the cold steel

@BSRadar100 - You could just put one layer over your paracord wrap if you want to keep it on the handle so you still can have a place for emergency paracord. Second, the steel is 1055 - not 1095. Wish it was 1095 - but the blade is tough as nails. Lastly, due to the thickness of this blade only being 1/8" thick, batoning some hard woods can be challenging. I have got this blade stuck while trying to baton. So I would not try splitting thick hard pieces. Otherwise, great machete - great price too

I've had the CS Kukri Machette for a couple or three years now, would love to get something a little heavier and shorter but being on disability makes it kind of a PITA to save up to move up. I wrapped the handle with paracord and it is ok but I'm thinking of grinding it down [[just the poly, not the metal]] then rewrapping it to fit better. I like my main to have the same edge you do-Swiis I think you called it? But I like the curve to be razor sharp [[the half Moon by the handle]] since I've found some really wiry-type vines that do not seem to chop well, I just use the sharp edge to slice them. Great vids BTW, just watched five from Kukri tutorial 1 thru 4 to this one and now on to another of yours.

i still do and i do use it..for light quick duty it works well ..but it lacks the weight to cut thru thick brush with one chop..i recomenend it for those who want to try a kukri design for the first time

The CS Ghurkha Khukuri in Carbon V was a much more capable bush knife. I also use a Himalayan Imports AK in place of an axe, since using an axe safely can be a problem for me due to disability. All of the old school common sense machetes were great tools for the money. I've used the CS heavy machete to fell trees in the mountains of WNC😁

Hadrian Jarilovic I'm not blackie, but I bought an UST short machete with a saw back, I could not saw with it at all. It would bind up and I could only cut into a log about 1/4 inch

I have a Cold Steel Kukhri machete, I have used mine to cut down weeds or brush around the farm water box. I wear gloves when I use it so that takes care of my hands. Well made tool, have banged it into rocks by accident and the blade is still good condition. Well made tool, I would buy another if I lost this or broke it.

Nice video Dude - I have done some extensive chopping tests with this machete and really like it. (Check out my vids). For the price it is an awe some chopper. Couple of things - First I too para wrapped the handle to begin with because like you said the handle will mangle your hand. However the paracord made the handle slick and when wearing leather gloves my hand slipped while chopping. I have since removed the paracord and layered bicycle tubes around it. Night and Day difference.
