Yes, I used an oil (or massage balm) & you can use anything to give you the slip & slide you need 👍🏻

Ambiental temperature is cold. When I do my whole corp massage with hot and cold stones, I place the cold ones in ambiental temperature water and the twin stones in the heater at 60 degrees. The cold stone leads and the hot stone followes
