I used to listen to this song and cry because I wanted to get sober and kept relapsing, my life was so out of control. I’ve now been sober since 12/12/2010. 💜 Recovery is possible 💜✨

it took me so long to ever even admit that i had a problem, id make excuses to try and justify myself. i would blame any situation or another person before id admit that it was my own doing. my life too was broken by it. so much time , so many relationships ruined by excessive drinking. This is an extremely accurate depiction of what alcoholism is like on a day to day basis. As a recovering alcoholic now and when I used to drink I loved this song. Long before I ever had met my wife and we had our children. This song will never “blow over in time” for me that’s for sure! 🤣 also Cold War kids are such a great band. 🤙😎

Me too man. The summer this album came out I was in full alcoholism. I finally quit in 2014. I used to listen to this song drunk and think that poor guy. He’ll never get to drink again. This song just came up on my recommendations and haven’t listened to it since I quit drinking And was just wondering what the comments were going to say. Thanks for sharing your similar story. 😎👍🏻

Man, this song. As an addict myself, even though alcohol isn't my drug of choice like in the song, this is still one of my favorite musical depictions of addiction. @FahrvergnugenTaglich2 жыл бұрын
I think you misinterpret the song; the guitar solo is as if a drunk picked up the guitar and tried to bang out a solo. The entire song is like this; that is why it is so disjointing and then becomes harmonious when he is thinking in his head how he will try to be better. Then back to being a drunk and the disjointed, off-key, roughness.

@bloodarowman3 I find that since they both have strong blues influences, that they are similar in style. I'd say that they're more like The Racounteurs than the White Stripes, but both have Jack White. The Cold War Kids, The White Stripes, The Racouneurs and The Black Keys are the best bands of the general style. if you don't know any of them, check them out.

@jestiferjestifer Umm, as I see that your comment refers to mine, I have to say that I've made two common grammar errors. I don't see what you mean by "can barely type in coherent *English". Plus this is KZbin, the use of proper punctuation, capitalization, and grammar is scarce among this site. Also, I don't see how my comment "says a lot about this band". Explanation?

The out of key comment kind of upsets me. I see what you mean but all those out of key parts are intentional and add to the intensity, and without them the song would be theoretically solid but boring as dirt . But anyhow, if you havent already check out the album yankee hotel foxtrot by wilco, they do a very good job redefining the line between music and noise.

great song. I wonder if they where listining to Wolf Parade during recordings. It sort of has this feel to it. And if you`re wondering who Wolf Parade is, then look up their song You are a runner and i`m my fathers son. If you are into Cold war kids you will propably like them also.
