Lol when I hear you talk about long pauses in the cold water, I get goosebumps and flashbacks. Caught my pb that way, twitched the pointer 78 sp then let it sit for 15 seconds, felt a weird weight on the end of the line, I pulled and I was just like "Oh god here we go, a monster!" Love it. The vid, content and jerkbait fishing. This coming Sunday in northern Illinois, we have a high of 40 and winds 10-15 We’ll be dressed like Canadian ice fisherman but jacking them on jerks on wind blow points. Hey Matt. You should check out the Duo Realis 110 sp. They have the weight transfer system awesome hooks and suspend great. Hard side to side action as well as great colors. They're also a little less money than a Lucky Craft

Just picked up a Lucky Craft pointer. I used it yesterday the 1st day of open water after the ice melted. Not sure if the bait is superior to my other jerk baits but I got 10 bass in the kayak in about 30 min. Ended up with 16 in 2.5 hours in 42 degree water. (Only 2 dinks, lol)

i can definitely say from my own experience upgrading hooks is a good thing it only happened one time my vision 110 bent a hook and completely broke a barb off another. i will also say it’s a bad idea depending on where you are fishing. maybe it’s just me but if i’m fishing around heavy rock cover i’ll throw one with stock hooks. granted i was fishing from the bank but i had just upgraded hooks on my vision 110 got hooked on a rock and could not get it free so i ended up losing a $30 bait. i would rather the hook broken or bent than lose the whole thing. just something to keep in mind

I got some 110s and said man them hooks are legit the stickiest hooks I've ever seen my buddy said you better change them hooks boy there sharp but junk. I said nah there good. I lost a monster smallie because I didn't change them. Bent the hook out straight and must have only had just the one hook in him and he was gone. I almost cried, 😢😢😢😭😭😭

So if understand what you guys are saying; the rod I’ve been using for jerkbait fishing which has a moderate action is too soft and preventing me from making those sharp, crisp snaps? I’ll have to experiment a little more to see if I can improve my jerkbait fishing. For me jerkbaits are a year round lure, and if the waters clear enough I always have one tied on. Ig it depends on the company whether a medium power fast action rod has enough bend to not rip those trebles out. I use Ark rods so I may have to try the sniper 6’10” M F. One year me and brother were using crank bait in the died of winter and no fish. So we started cranking fast to get to bottom and stop the bait wait for a couple secs than snap the bait wait again, we start catching them.
