I haven't been fishing in over 5 yrs and didn't know where to start back again so I started watching Tactical Basssin' with Matt Allen. His KZbin videos have changed my life forever. You see, I was an avid fisherman but got addicted to crack badly. Then I saw a video with Matt that got my interests in fishing rekindled!!! Matt, I'm know a fishing addict and hooked on that feeling I get when I hook on a big bass. While I'm no Matt Allen or pro fisherman obviously, my biggest bass being only 20", I believe that. Matt and Tactical Bassin literally saved my life. My biggest and most sincere thank you to you Matt from the bottom of my heart and soul. I love your videos and the info you share with all of us. Keep up the great work.

That's awesome I was addicted to opiates for 10+ years and recently got addicted to fishing. I've been off opiates for around 6 months I think lol I lost track of how long after a while. I go fishing at least 3 times a week and I already got 7 combos lmao it's really addictive in a good way but not for the wallet.

I’ve been watching educational fishing videos for 15+ years. Wanted to be a pro in my early teens. Was addicted to it. I’ve watched em all, the Gerald Swindles, Kevin Vandam, and Mike Iconellie’s, and I’m gonna tell ya.... Matt Allen is the most in depth, hit every point, explain everything to the T, from beginner to advanced fishing coach/teacher I have seen. I have been so impressed with every single video he puts out. He’s doing what he loves and it it shows. ✌️

I've fished my whole life but never really done any bass fishing specifically. Went out this morning seeing a lot of top water action and just happened to have a super fluke tied up so I tossed it out there and had an 8 pound striper smash it almost immediately. Watching your channel has been costing me a lot of money the last couple days but I definitely have the bug now!!

I have found that if you take needle nose pliars and close the opening in the CPS spring so that it is smaller than the barb of your hook you wont lose your fluke and you wont lose action of the fluke either. Just a little tip I have found to be very useful. Great video as usual guys!! Keep up the good work!

Hey guys I got a classic one for you. I love your banjo minnow style but have y'all try it using a lunker city 4.5 sluggo. Good luck thanks for your videos and information guys.

I stopped using the fluke for a while and been doing a lot of bottom fishing. Switched to flukes a few weeks ago and Bass can't seem to get enough of them. It's an amazing lure. I've noticed Bass annihilate the flukes when they make splashes on the top. Drives them crazy. I have to mention when I started using flukes again I forgot to use the lighter weight EWG hook. How I managed to make it a top water still baffles me. Bass love those splashes at the top. The little tail pushing water everywhere drives them nuts. Thanks so much for this video TB.

Hi @tacticalbassin love your CPS rig. For a fluke keeper: I use a single hole paper punch to punch hard plastic tabs out of plastic food container lids. Push right over the hook point. Yogurt tub lid or anything like that works great and readily available. Also use these tabs to retain buzz bait keeper hooks. Learned this from another pro but can't remember who. Thanks Matt and Tim!

As usual great tips. I love the fluke up here in Massachusetts. I throw it a ton during the herring run on our kettle ponds. I want to add a hook to your arsenal that I think you'll love it might seem like a gimmick hook but it has great hookup and keeps my baits fixed longer. Give the gamakatsu Skip Gap hook a try I throw 3/0 and 4/0 on yum Houdini Shad and it's been money for me for years. The wire falls somewhere b/w standard and superline. I chuck it on MH spinning gear braid to floro when In shallow conditions 2-10ft we fish it as a hard twitch twitch kill it let it fall to the bottom dead stick and repeat. If there are several they take it on the twitch but bigger fish tend to slurp it off the bottom and move off with it..give it a try! We do alot of Quabbin Reservoir fishin up here for smallies look it up it's PHENOMINAL you guys should make a trip of it!

I was using the Texas rig, but I was thinking about trying out the California rig this weekend, can't wait to get out on the water

I do like braid, but I'm too lazy to tie a leader knot. I usually just throw flukes on mono with a uglystick gx2 spinning rod. Might not be optimal, but it was about $40 with combo plus line and you still catch fish!

I was skeptical but put all this into action at my neighborhood pond. Turns out everything in this video is 100. I personally like going full light braid (10 lb) when fishing it weedless, had a much easier time feeling bites that way. I was shocked when a bass absolutely hammered that fluke on top of the water though. I recommend the Zman Jerk ShadZ if you can get them. Super durable and great action.

Great video...I love these high quality tips and tricks. I started to use flukes not too long ago and immediately got into some action going. Can I futher modify the nose hook style with a small split shot a few inches from the fluke or adding a nail weight into the head of the fish respectively? Or will these modification of the nose hook rig kill the "fluke" action? Appreciate your thoughts on that. Keep up the good work!

Disclaimer: I just started fishing this past November from scratch and am still very much a beginner. I am learning basic setups for each of the seasons I have fished so far and then tweak those based on the water I fish and what seems to be working or not. I have found the best success so far this Spring pre and post spawn. That being said, I have tried the "rip, rip, rip, pause...rip, pause" technique with no success. Jerk baits, flukes, etc. How are you reeling after the rips to make sure you're not swimming your bait? I should also state that I blow up my baitcaster A LOT and still haven't figured that one out and mostly use my spinning setups. Thanks in advance! Love your videos, they have helped me catch fish when I'm most frustrated and catching nothing.
@kevinb3145 жыл бұрын
I'm no Pro but have been 'casually' fishing for most of my life. I used a spinning reel exclusively until I was about 20. Keep trying with the baitcaster! Try a larger diameter line as you will get less backlash. You can also spool half of your reel or so, then put a stopper, and then 100 yards of line or so. So if you backlash, it will only go down so far. Work the breaks, try not to cast into the wind, and make it a nice smooth cast, not a whippy cast like you probably do with your spinning set up. Ride your thumb on the spool, you should be improving. If its a super chepo baitcaster, its going to be easier to backlash, but you should still be able to learn and use it well with practice. Its worth it! Caught my PB the first summer out with my baitcaster on a spinner bait. I would have never been able to get her in on my spinning tackle. I'd recommend practicing with a little heavier lure as you learn the techniques.
