Covered all the basics of staying off the ground and being comfortable using minimal gear. Normally a browse bed filled with duff would be my first choice, but this is a more than acceptable alternative. Good vid.

I’ve slept on higher raised beds here in FL and never knew I could use this technique in the cold/snow (meaning low, untied/unsupported and with the branches placed on top). That’s a great system for a quick insulator/bed with less recourses and less energy expended. Awesome video gentlemen, thanks!

Love these types of videos. Helps refresh one's mind and think of new ideas when one doesn't get to do what you guys do all the time. Reminds me of camping using the foam connect squares you see in pre schools. Use those for the ground in side the tent, then either sleep on that or have multiple blankets for cushion.

Not that this is hard to do, but if people got over the stigma of carrying a small kit or a few items they could do this and make a mattress or sleeping bag with a couple of large trash bags. A wire saw or a multitool is nothing to carry as they're small and weight very little. I agree with the idea that everyone should carry a folding knife and a few items on their person all the time. Even a fanny pack or similar sized bag or pouch can carry a lot of survival gear and supplies.

Great video, good to see you back in a video. Question, what do you do for ticks when in the woods? How did you not get ticks on you in this video? Ticks are crazy in upstate NY and the Lyme disease the sprays don't seem to work

Good solution for problem with compressing leaves. However, wouldn't it be better if you layed leaves between the long limbs prior to adding the cross limbs?

Awesome video. I see that when you cut saplings you cut right to the ground and cover the cut up with leaves. That’s what I do as well so it won’t be noticed that a tree has been cut. 4PATRIOTS sent me their Staples of Survival survival tin kit for me to do a review on. I did a review on it and now I’ll be doing a video on building a survival shelter and fire with the wire saw, multi tool and fire steel. Thanks for sharing.

Great video! I do have some questions. How long did it take to build (including cutting down trees) and would you also build some kind of roof over it in a survival situation?
@ONThree4 жыл бұрын
Depending on materials, you can expect about an hour. You would absolutely want some cover over you as well. Thanks for watching!

And oh yeah, laying on the ground, sucks. Have to do it a lot for work, doing installs of equipment on dairy farms. Even worse, winter time, it’s on concrete, usually wet too. So yeah that’s always fun. Gotta love wool blend long Johns.

Ahaha, yeah, sleeping in mud puddles is fun, damn fighting holes during fall, with a lot of rain. Can’t make a big enough sump and what not, by hand for a 2 man fighting hole. Good times right there.
