Hi, picked my Deluxe up at REI on sale for $55.74 with tax. I like it a lot. Have lots of camping and hiking stuff. 73 years young. GET OUT THERE and enjoy while you can.

Great review, I just bought the Deluxe. I was wondering about the cold performance as I plan on using it this winter, and the packaging boasts about cold weather performance, and in my experience canisters just don't work well in the cold period. This however is using gear from 15 plus years ago at least. It isn't cold here in south western NH yet, but damn, what a performer this thing is. Raging heat, perfect simmer. I love it. So worth the price. I have never been an MSR fan persae, nothing against them, I am just one to always go against the grain and not go with the seemingly universal choice (see what I did there lol), but wow, this thing is a marvel. excellent product, great review and thank you. I was going to just cheap out and go with a 12 or whatever dollar Etekcity from Amazon as I am unfortunately not going on any serious excursions for a while but totally worth it. 10 out of 10 would recommend this stove.

Greetings from Kenya. Thanks for another product review - great information as usual. But my comment is about a concern that I have about your cooking! Many years ago I worked in the United Kingdom in the plastics industry, and worked on developing a plastic liner for metal food cans. The innovation stopped the acid in many foods from attacking the tin lining of steel cans. so the product had a significant benefit to storage life and food safety, but I was concerned to see a can of vegetable soup being used as a cooking vessel!! heating the plastic liner to or beyond melting point could lead to contamination of the soup (in my opinion). so, young man, do some research and please be careful. Harry

I agree with you, and I don't make it a habit to heat canned goods in the can, but he clearly did not use excessive heat on that cook. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would think that the paper label on the outside of the can would have burned up before the can got hot enough for the lining to start leeching toxins into the food?

Just got back from a 100 mile canoe trip. One in our party had the Delux, I was immediately impressed. When I got home I bought one for my daughter for Christmas this year. Thanks for confirming that my decision was correct. Great video.

For me, the Deluxe performs substantially better in high wind applications. A must in the Canadian Rockies !

MSR Deluxe looks fine to me. I'm still using the Optimus Crux. It has always been tough to deploy the pot supports, but overall, it is a good stove.

I bought a lixada fuel canister adapter for my stoves and they work great on the 1 lbs propane cylinders. This adapter cost me $14 and gives me options.

13 degrees.... Ouch! It was 80 and sunny down here in South Alabama today. Thank you Jesus! Hey, great comparison video Aaron, thanks for sharing!

Aaron, Not real sure about this, but I believe that canned foods have a plastic liner inside, so be careful heating food in the can or you might be eating some plastic when you cook in the can...Abe Azar

You beat me to it! I believe that is correct, probably not for all canned foods, but certainly some/most of them. You’re probably safe with something more gentle like an MRE heater, but not that pocket blowtorch.

I own the 2.0 and I love it no need for the more exspensive one especially since you should have a lighter matches or a firesteel in the woods. Plus I can wait 20 more seconds especially when just chilling in the woods enjoying nature and I would think the one that’s boils faster uses more fuel quicker but the 2.0 probably uses the same amount to boil water cause it takes a longer so it most likely burns about the same just a quest.

Gdday. From Australia is this video recent? My word it didn’t take long for the snow to fall, is that normal or is it early.

So my question is did the MSR Pocket Rocket Deluxe fade off slower than the 2. In other words did you get more usable Flame out of the pocket rocket Deluxe because of the regulator? Or did they fade off at the same rate due to the cold temperatures.?
@youtube707611 ай бұрын
the one with the regulator should also be able to operate with a propane adapter in the event of an emergency..

What a great stove, even in cold weather. I’m guessing that Aaron let the coffee cool for 10+ minutes to take a sip from that single wall stainless cup. Otherwise it’s burned lips time.

I know you get a lot of people asking for reviews on products but if you get time or you can I’d like to get your input on this product. Thanks man stay safe.

what altitude do you live at and what temperature is boiling point Also when will you review the BRS 3000T as it is functionally as good as the MRS at a fraction of the weight and price
@Roarmeister24 жыл бұрын
The BRS has a much smaller burn head and is less efficient fuel wise especially in windy conditions. On an extended outing, the more fuel burned will more than offset any weight differential of the stove. The bigger head of the Deluxe should mean fewer burned meals, especially when using Titanium pots. If all you ever do is boil water then it probably doesn't matter much to you. The BRS is definitely more compact - about 1/2 the size when collapsed.

Are the gas canisters universal? Like can I get any brand and it will connect to the starter?
@Roarmeister24 жыл бұрын
Yes all the canisters use a Lindal self-closing valve which is compatible with these stoves.

Usually an 80/20% combination of isobutane and propane. Sometimes 75/25% or 70/30%. Occasionally you might find ordinary butane/propane.
