I have a knot tip for you. It's a knot that I was taught by an old timer when I was a kid 14. It won't break unless your line does. Take your line and pull it down so you have a loop...then do the rabbit ears like your tie in your shoes. Since it down to the desired loop that you want. Pull that loop through the hole and pull the hook back through the hole. That's the only knot I've used my whole life. It won't break unless your line does. 😊

You should try making what my kids know as - Jerky"Stew" on stay fishy. Some camp food for sure- mini potatoes halved, onion,carrots and fresh corn cut off the cobb maybe some celery. Add the carrots and corn and jerky chunks ,celery if using, a few minutes after the potatoes .add enough water to cover everything in a pot , Cook til potatoes slide off the fork . No seasoning necessary- The jerky Does wonders! Your Welcome ! Jerky with no brown sugar is the best ! ✌️

Jordan, why don't you tie up some spey flies the same color as your pink candy worm? When I was much younger and fished for steelhead all the time I found a pink yarn fly was a killer. Sometimes a I added a little white or cerise to the pink for later passes thru the hole.

I don't think you need better line, unless you switched. But after a few without fishing def change the line. I bought some Spyder line, the 12 pound floro and man I will never buy it again. I tie a knot andnthe line frays. I rub my fingers down it and it frays. Never had problem with their other lines just specifically the 12 lb floro
@potsgeorge

honestly, I have tried & scale tested many different lines that were supposed to be good, including Kingcast, they all failed , except for PLINE & Trilene. & Addicted braid line, which now i will only use these brands. these 3 are so far the only lines that have not failed and held up beyond their weight tested.

Are the steelhead in Oregon a different genetic than those in central and Northern California? I always see you guys catch bigger ones with less of a rainbow trout look than the ones here on the trinity and Sacramento rivers
@cheechwizard6541
@cheechwizard6541 Жыл бұрын
Steelhead from different watersheds are genetically different. Studies have shown that resident rainbow trout from the same river as a steelhead have more genetic similarities than steelhead from different rivers, so the simple answer to your question is - yes. In general steelhead get bigger the further north you go. Check out the Olympic Pen. stuff compared to Oregon stuff, and the BC fish from rivers like the Skeena and the Dean, etc compared to WA fish. And then there's winter vs summer - Winter run fish are generally a bit bigger on average. Also, for the most part any steelhead that is further upriver will get a trout-ier look to them vs one that is closer to the ocean. These Oregon Coast winter steelhead rivers are short, and most of the fishing takes place in the first 30 miles or less from the Pacific.
