I am about to make a laminated set of lists to hang in my man cave, one for steelhead, one for salmon and one for ice fishing. Yesterday here in MI on a river I haven't caught a steelhead on yet, put my father in law on his first ever steelhead. My forgotten item was a net. Did not get to truly land it because we could not get back to the bank but he caught a beautiful hatchery hen. No monster but he loved the fight.

A great trick for thickening chowders, especially if you don’t want to use flour or similar things, is take a couple big scoops of your soup (before adding the star of the show, ie clams, crab, etc) & run i through a blender. Add it back into the soup & not only is it thicker youve blended all those great flavors into it. Try using chopped sweet onion, shallots & leeks together in your chowders (saute them in butter first). The flavor is insane!
