Thanks for this under 5 minute primer. Those 90+ minute ColdCard "tutorials" by the KZbin high priests of Bitcoin are probably doing more harm than good to your product by making the hardwallet process look much scarier and daunting than it really is.

yeah, the problem with adding opt-in features via firmware updates is that the capability/vulnerability is then baked into every device. it would have served them better to create a new product with the recovery features.

Ledger taught us (by accident) that all hardware wallets can easily get access to your private keys. The only answer is multi sig to protect against single point of failure.
@hal77034 ай бұрын
I helped both my mom and dad set up theirs up. At 2:43, I’ve run into the same problem with both of them. Coldcard is plugged into computer and my screen looks like the video. When I click scan, it says ‘no hardware wallets found.’ If you want everyday users to adopt your product, you need to make it more user-friendly.
@Varias_Variaveis4 күн бұрын
Good video. But one doubt remained. How do you send a fund from a specific address to another address? In other words, can you select an address with background, among several, to send via MK4? Thanks.
@jacksmachine1874 Жыл бұрын
Sparrow is far more complex then what is shown! When going to download it the website says you will need GPG and then says you need to 'sign the release' but doesn't explain any of this.. So annoying. How the hell are you guys expecting to onboard people if only ultra nerds can figure out how to use this? Or at least have complete guides on what is supposed to be done.

technically the bitcoin is not stored in a software or device, its stored in the wallet that you created (12 or 24 words) so if your cold card breaks or you lose access to sparrow, you can take your wallet (12 or 24 words) and input those words to another software or cold device and load up your accounts again @@taym2720

Either you use a computer, or the wallet is a computer. You can't interact with bitcoin offline. It's actually better that the coldcard is not a complex computer. It's just a simple device by design. It reads potential transactions that you securely import into it offline, if you like the transaction you sign them using the device. The exported info contains the signed transaction which the computer can send out to the internet without having the device connected.

@@overbuiltlimitedwhy do you say this? After writing this how is your experience with it now?
@overbuiltlimited10 ай бұрын
@@scubasteve4119 Several reasons. This was several years ago so don't remember a lot of detail. What I do remember was: Far too many steps to do anything on the wallet. The menu system is very deep. Too many features, and many of them "hidden." BTC Sessions walk through was two hours long and still didn't touch on many of them. Time locks. Distraction wallets, secondary pin codes. How many of these features will you actually use? Some of these are a damn good way to lock your Bitcoin from yourself. I went through the trouble of learning the wallet and received test amounts on the wallet. This was to be my super secure wallet that held the bulk of my BTC. I'm not going to be accessing it on a monthly or even yearly basis. In five or ten years I would have to learn how to use it all over again. Then I imagined trying to teach my wife how to use it. Forget it. Bought several Bitboxes and didn't look back. The Cold Card goes unused. Been in since 2016. I've used many of the hardware wallets out there. The Cold Card was the most difficult to use by a large margin.
