Q. I bought a Trezor Safe 3 1 year ago. This is the first time I am setting it up. I am using the cord to connect it to my 2020 MacBook. It has been plugged in about 15 min to the laptop. How long before it starts working? Because it remains dead even if I press buttons. (I have to say. I am not a techie. But before this, I had a ledger. I put stuff on it and left it be for 2 years. When I tried to use it, it rattled and would not work. I was hoping this new trezor that has sat on a shelf for a year would be ok to start using. Any helpful insights? It is horrible to invest in 2 cold wallets and have both brands just…. Flatline without use.

Hi I didn’t get the pop up 11:14 to select wallet think it made just a standard wallet and I think the firmware and the layout of suit has changed 06/08/24 I want to create passphrase wallet when I click on passphrase wallet says to enter passphrase which I haven’t created so how do I create a passphrase wallet really confused

Yep. The app will continue to change as it’s continually updated. To your point, it automatically sets up the standard wallet initially. Now you can choose the default wallet option when opening Trezor suite (Standard or Passphrase). To change which one will popup up when you open Trezor suite. Go to settings, Wallet Loading, and select Standard or Passphrase. As for setting up your Passphrase wallet, just enter in whatever Passphrase you want to use when prompted. It will set it up once you enter it. You can also quickly access/create Passphrase wallet by tapping the arrow next to the wallet icon in the top left hand corner of Trezor Suite, then select Passphrase wallet. Here you can also quickly change between standard/passphrase.

That’s what I’m saying. Just enter in whatever you WANT your passphrase to be and it will create it once you enter it.

16:27, you mean you can actually forget or lose your seed phrase then use this function to recover the seed phrase? That doesn’t seem right to me. I thought they were the master keys that can’t be recovered in any way.

Regarding VPNs - I thought that the reason for using a VPN is because when you look up your particular blockchain addresses, your IP address could possibly allow someone to connect the two together, thereby allowing them to figure out how much BTC you have, and then, if so inclined, figuring out where you live from your IP address.

Yes. Your crypto isn’t stored on the app in in the physical device. The device is used to hold and manage the key to your wallet. So as long as you know your seed phrase, you will always be able to access your crypto using a different brand wallet if you want

When I transfer Bitcoin or ETH to this wallet, are the BTC or ETH identified as being received on a specific chain? For example, if I transfer BTC on the BNB Chain network, will it be recognized as part of the BNB Chain upon receipt, or will it remain an independent token not tied to any particular blockchain network? If it indeed receives BTC specifically on the BNB Chain, what would happen if one day the BNB Chain collapses? How would I be able to convert BTC to fiat currency under such circumstances? When you transfer Bitcoin or ETH to a Trezor wallet (or any wallet for that matter), the wallet will recognize them based on the network they were sent on. For example, if you send BTC on the BNB Chain network, it will be recognized as BTC on BNB Chain, not as native Bitcoin. If the BNB Chain were to collapse, your BTC would still be tied to that network and you’d likely lose it assuming there was no warning. If you had notice, you’d want to bridge it back to the native Bitcoin network before or potentially swap it to fiat before the network went down (theoretically). This is why it’s crucial to understand the network you’re using when sending or receiving crypto assets.

Might want to try to factory reset it using the steps in this article (follow instructions for the Safe 3): Here’s the article: trezor.io/support/a/common-hardware-issues Just make sure you have your seed phrase as you’ll need to enter it if you’re able to factory reset it. If that doesn’t work, I’d reach out to Trezor.

I was wondering if I should transfer my crypto or recover using the ledger seed. How have others done it? I like using the recovery phrase as that would be simple, but not sure if it's the best way. Yes and no. The odds of guessing a 12 word seed phrase is nearly impossible right now. But, a 24 word seed phrase is even less likely to be guessed due the larger number of possible combinations.

With 128 bits of entropy, a 12-word seed phrase has 3.4 × 10^38 possible combinations. A 24-word seed phrase has 256 bits of entropy, resulting in approximately 1.16 × 10^77 possible combinations. Both are highly secure, but 24-word phrases offer the best protection.

No. First off, crypto wallets don’t hold any crypto. They hold the keys to access your crypto on the blockchain. When you use a hardware wallet device such as the Trezor Safe 3, your private keys are stored offline on the Trezor wallet. Ledger Live is simply a software on your desktop you use to interact with the wallet. So, even if your computer were compromised, the keys on your Trezor device would remain safe. Safe 3 looks great but typing your pin that way every time you need to use it seems annoying, also if you use a hidden wallet do you have to type the passphrase every time? Bc in that case it might just be worth it to buy the touch screen safe 5 😅

Yes, it can be annoying. That’s the nice thing about touch screens. And yes, you have to enter your passphrase each time if you choose to set it up (not the seed phrase though).

I just recently revoked mine from tokens I traded in BSC last bull run. I no longer have those tokens and plan to migrate the remaining to a new wallet. people just be wary of revoking approvals on their stake on dapps. thanks.

@@cyberscrilla i have around 12 hw = hardware wallets. I got 4 keystone 3 pro, 2 ngrave zero, 4 trezor and 2 ledger. I spread my coins/tokens very wide. Each hw has own use case like, meme tokens, alt tokens, staking only, storage only etc etc. After everything what legder did, i dont trust them anymore and therefor i treat ledger as hot wallet even it is hw. Mainly i use ledger for high risk stuff only.

Brother, you need to do more research. Different blockchains function differently. When you use a third party wallet like MetaMask with your hardware wallet, it doesn’t affect your hardware wallet’s security. You simply use the app to manage crypto/initiate transactions. It’s no different than using Trezor Suite. Just a different app. The hardware device still stores your key offline and is required to approve transactions-which is the point of a hardware wallet.

Unless you get a head injury and forget your phrase. Always best to have a backup hidden somewhere close by and secure.
