My dad left this world in the middle of the night in October of 2016, I was 24 at the time. He was one of the liveliest people you would ever meet and by far the greatest man I ever knew. He was my rock, he was always present and there for me (especially when my mom was out of the picture in my adolesnce) and I attribute so much of the man I have become now to his wisdom, strength, kindness, and deceny. I remember waking up that day just feeling empty, knowing that every day in my life would be defined as everything before and after that moment... There was this little park behind my high school that had a small lake and a dock that I would always go to growing up that was a place of refuge for me, where I would go to be alone and to find peace. I went to that dock that night at sunset listening to this song, and looked at the sky, and the massive storm clouds opened up across the sky as the sun pierced through them and intensly lit up the sky, as if the heavens themselves were opening up to tell me that they received my father, and he made it to his eternal home. Every time I hear this song, it brings me back to that exact moment in time

Because he really feels it. He's passionate when doing things. As a musician, this is for me what pure sounds and art represent. Things must be done with powerful love, sincerity and humility. If not, why doing them? Not only Coldplay members do that, there are more people, but God... Chris Martin is simply unique... He truly does things being authentic. Just being HIM.

@danielnunez41017 жыл бұрын
Alex Flores I love Coldplay, but have you seen Paul McCartney playing Hey Jude live? That's beautiful too, everyone united
@laceyv19937 жыл бұрын
I have had the honor of seeing both Paul McCartney and Coldplay in concerts. I've got to say that while "Hey Jude" pulls a big unity, Coldplay's whole concerts (I've been to two thus far) have such a unifying vibe about them. They use their synchronizing wristbands that make you feel as though every person there is a vital part of the show. It's absolutely magical to see the lights and just the heart that goes into every concert with those guys. Paul McCartney is a legend, but Coldplay's concerts are so much more inspiring to go to than anyone else I've ever seen.

In the original recording, Chris Martin sounds as if he is singing to one individual person like you or me. Here though, it seems as if he is wishing to fix the entire world; as if he knows how filled with sickness, anger, and darkness it is. Yet he loves all the mistakes and with the help of all of the people singing with him in the audience and the thousands who watch this video at home, he will try to fix it. I absolutely love this performance!
@rebeccai65177 жыл бұрын
Hannah Clemenson it sounds like he's so trying to connect and be at one with everyone in the audience. He wasn't just singing he was connecting. I can't explain it properly what I mean lol

Coldplay just performed the most appropriated song for the concert with Don't Look Back In Anger. They've sent a real support message to Manchester Attack's victims trough this fabulous song. Good job Chris.
@mariafernandaribeiro66467 жыл бұрын
Goto Hellm8 another song that I found appropriate for the moment was Don't Dream It's Over. But all of the songs in the show, being cheerful or not, had the purpose of uniting the crowd, so as all of the world, against the horror that it's happening nowadays. Cause that's the purpose of music, after all ❤

To be fair, Don't Look Back In Anger definitely was "appropriated" for the message of the concert. Aside from the title, the actual lyrics have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with unity, solidarity or love trumping hate.

This is why I love coldplay,,they do not sing about drugs,sex,money,,they sing about love and togetherness.If you go to their concert you will truly feel the togetherness.Chris is so humble especially as the frontman,and of course he is talented.Guy is quiet,but when he gets that bass magic happens.Jonny and the guitar=no words needed you already know.And of course the legend Will Champion,,,not only is he one of the lead backup vocalists,this guy is a drummer, a legend.Anyone who likes coldplay knows do not mess with Will.Anyways i just love coldplay and how they stand for togethereness and love.

Lights will guide you home And ignite your bones And I will try to fix you And high up above or down below When you're too in love to let it show But if you never try you'll never know Just what you're worth Lights will guide you home And ignite your bones And I will try to fix you Tears stream down your face When you lose something you cannot replace Tears stream down your face And I... Isn't it crazy what music does to people? Music unites us, makes us cry, makes us smile, makes us light up inside, gives us goosebumps and that's what makes it so incredible. Also, look closely at Coldplay's song choices. First, they played Don't Look Back In Anger, because you can't keep reliving the past and let hate win, you can only fight hate with love. After that, they played Fix You, because we will be fixed. The peace can be restored as long as we will fight for it and try to fix each other. Lastly, they played Viva La Vida as a tribute to life. Live your life while you can because it is beautiful and full of chances! As Chris would say, lights will guide you home and ignite your bones, and love will fix you. Manchester and this world will be ok, because love will win.

I so agree, the aerial shots showing the whole crowd are so moving and resonant. They also get great up-close shots of the audience, mirroring the emotions of what people feel like watching on You Tube. BBC deserves some kind of major award for this

Best live performance ever. This song and video is the only song my son responds to and it calms him immediately. He's only 4 and has loved this song since age 2. This song is played daily in our home, during bedtime, bath time, Every medical appointment, drive in the car etc. ❤️

This song reminds me of my father when he died. I couldn't keep myself from crying when he suffered from a neuromuscular problem that caused him to be bedridden for almost 3 years. I didn't know how to handle my emotions during the time when his condition got worse. I just kept on listening to this song to comfort me, until the moment he passed away. This was and still is my go to song when I want to remember my father. There's something with the melody and lyrics of the song that gives me that warmth feeling, that I know for sure many are also able to relate...

One of the best concerts I have ever seen ... Coldplay at the Gorge in Eastern Washington in the U.S. Some people will say they are lame but Chris Martin's exuberance and joy when the band performs is unsurpassed. It was captured in a 60 Minutes segment that I have watched over, and over, and over. The power of music, indeed.

No, it was for Gwyneth. Chris has mentioned in several interviews that he wrote it for Gwyneth after Bruce (her father) passed away. He wanted to try and fix her as best as he could. "Blythe Danner, the mother of Gwyneth Paltrow and former mother-in-law of Chris Martin, stated in an interview in May 2012 that Martin 'wrote the song for Gwyneth when her father died and I weep every time I hear it'."
