I think the harmonies are actually good!! it's hard to harmonize with this man's tone and Sabrina did well, in my opinion, and it's fully live so it's waaay harder

It sounds really weird here IMO. The harmony lines she chose kinda clashed with the main melody rather than complementing it well IMO. I'm sure I wouldn't have given a shit if I was actually there to watch this live performance though.

Either something was off with their in-ear monitors or time was short for rehearsal (if there was any at all) or something like that. Because it was clear something was making them struggle with the key of the song and it was most noticeable during harmonies, of which there were unfortunately a lot for them to do. Props to them for doing their best to navigate it though. Really awesome that this happened at all.

He did make them give them the right key at the very beginning from the piano which is unusual.

Yeah, Sabrina was off key right at the start, but recovered. It's also her voice is very soft, whispery, a stark contrast w/ Chris' clear, empathic voice that cuts thru everything. Still, I think they were able to make their voices meld and gave an awesome performance.

They're not singing the same key but they're definitely not off key. Sabrina sang it higher bcuz if she sang it the way Chris did, his voice would get buried or hers would, and that wouldn't really add much flavor to the song. Sabrina has a much softer voice compared to Chris so it doesn't create the best harmony but it doesn't sound bad to me at all. I don't know why y'all are mad tbh

as a sabrina stan imo they couldve had a better song choice to do a duet, i think harmonizing would be better for songs like fix you or yellow or everglow. magic is better to be sung either in unison or just one octave higher than chris' tone in which i think sabrina could do bc her lower register is actually so good and could just switch it up with the high notes for the bridge. nonetheless, imagine singing with coldplay and being complimented by chris martin on stage! im so proud of her and happy for her. they did great either way.

Man, Coldplay has the same outfit since forever, it’s hard to tell what year this performance happen without looking at the title. Another way to tell which year performance this is, just look at some of the artists they are singing with. It’s Sabrina now, so it’s 2024, the big year of Sabrina. KZbin comments are usually positive under these kinds of videos, but this one was so off that it needs to be said. It's not a dig at Sabrina or Chris; I really like them both, but this was bad. People might blame the sound technician (unfairly, the fuck he do?), but singing in unison an octave apart rarely works out because any slight pitch deviation creates extreme dissonance. I feel like "Magic" always sounds bad live, and Coldplay should let go of it. It's too mellow for a live setting.
