This is so amazing! Cant wait to learn these songs :D . Thanks for breaking it down for us. The tuning is so lovely! Being a Coldplay fan, I had tried figuring put songs "Now my feet wont touch the ground", "Til Kingdom Come" and "Reign of Love" but on a standard tuning, But the regular chords couldn't make the cut. And finally ,after almost 10 years, I'll be able to play these!

Hey everybody, Just a quick little update: I *DID* exaggerate about the song's main loop starting on the third down-beat :D I had literally only ever really actively listened to / analyzed the intro into the first verse and I literally heard the song "wrong" in my head... Tabs and everything are still 100% correct, but yeah there's no off-beat pre-intro. It literally starts on the first down-beat of the first bar. I figured this out when earlier, I was checking out the chords that lead into the chorus - for the chorus is literally just a repetition, note for note, of what's happening in the verse, but yeah... In the chorus, it becomes very, very clear that the first chord of the riff/loop is that "350030" chord, and not the "130010", which I incorrectly identified as the "one". However, that has actually made the song a whole lot easier for me to understand, sooo *EXPECT A FULL TUTORIAL BY NEXT WEEKEND* Can't wait :)

Hey Jo, I absolutely love this tuning! They were all very good but I especially loved now My feet won't touch the ground. It was great, well done! Something funny happened today. Yesterday, I was trying to nail down that Jupiter. Today, during the day, I noticed a pain in my thumb. I've only figured that out now at the end of the day 😂. You warned me, but it sound's too good for a break. I do have one question for you, though. As always 😅. But I was watching a video about memorising the fretboard, and I've started to learn it. So far, I have the E strungs nailed down, but now I'm wondering if it is really that useful. If you know it's useful, well then that's good enough for me 😊. Thanks, Jo.

Thanks for the amazing tutorial! I think someone else may have mentioned this but i noticed in the QVC version Chris does have the capo on the 5th fret, yet it sounds the same as 6th fret...which must mean he tuned the guitar up a semitione? I wonder if it's to make the bass string slide with the thumb easier? I find my hand does tend to hit the guitar when sliding up, maybe he had the same problem 😂...
@JoZeeland
@JoZeeland 25 күн бұрын
@@1961gilligan Hey thank you so much :) Yeah, that's 100% what's happening. For Jupiter, Chris has his guitar tuned a semistep up so that sliding up to the A-minor-shaped chord is just a liiiittle less uncomfortable :D It's very understandable. At the same time, I don't outright recommend tuning up to C# Bb C# G# C C# due to the increased risk of breaking a string. Anyways, good observation ! I honestly didn't even look that closely at the exact capo positioning, since I only focused on the tuning (which is the same thing at the end of the day) but that's still my bad for not recognizing it 😅 Thank you once again and take care - Jo

Hi Jo! Sorry again, few questions please (right now, I don't have my guitars) : - And how do you play the full part "and the wheels just keep on turning"? In your way, does it sound Am chord? - About "fallinginlove" I can't figure out why you don't incorporate the "sus4" when Chris sings "I know that this could HURT ME bad". This is so nice to play. Is there a trick to play this? - About "birds", I remember you gave me basic chords and tuning but sorry, I've lost what you told me so I you could give me all once again... - Will you release new personal music soon? - Finally, but I guess your answer, there's a piece of an artist that I really really love which is played with lap steel guitar. If I donate you, do you think you could help me to transcribe (even a simplified version) of this instrumental song in fingerpicking? I would be really really happy. The guy plays in open A but I will play it in open G. Is there another way to play this minor chord than what you do in the cover? thanks and sorry again Vincent
@JoZeeland
@JoZeeland Ай бұрын
@@ChristelleFEVRE-d9n Hey Vincent, thank you so much! Yes, there is:) Chris will typically play the Am chord in that song as 9-12-0-0-10-0. He uses similar shapes for G and F. I find them a little uncomfortable to play, so I play 9-x-0-0-10-0 instead - muting the a-string with my thumb. Prefer this chord, since it sounds more open too:)

it’s such a simple tuning but it sounds so good lol. have you figured out what tuning man in the moon is in? i figured it’d be in this one considering it’s practically the same song as flifil but it doesn’t seem to be judging off of the short acoustic bit at the end
@JoZeeland
@JoZeeland Ай бұрын
@@Coldd Yes - 100% agreed :) Such a cool tuning. I played Man... in EADGBD with a capo on 6 the other day! Also works really well just in standard with capo on 6. But in that one part where you can hear the acoustic really well - that tiny moment in the pre-chorus right before it moves to the chorus - it sounds lower than capo 6. So it *might* actually be EACGBC with capo on 1. And then you once again play chords similar to what I show in the video. The problem is though that for the most part, some sort of mandoline (I think?) plays over the normal acoustic guitar as well, which is what you hear playing all by itself at the end. A little hard to tell those two sounds apart in all the other parts that come before... I'll probably make a video on this sometime soon :) Thank you so much and take care! Jo
@Coldd
@Coldd Ай бұрын
@@JoZeeland EADGBC with capo on 1 was what I had originally came up with when listening the first time, but yeah like you mentioned, I think there is a mandolin of some sort being played as well so that's what threw me off a bit. Chord 1 = "G-major" shape 3-5-0-0(-0-0) Chord 2 = "C-major" shape 8-10-0-0(-0-0) Chord 3= "F/A" shape 5-8-0-0(-0-0) Finger positions are relative to the capo (=6), but obviously, not very useful when the chords are so drawn out across the fretboard, so here are the same chords with "universal" fret indications: Chord 1 = C#-major: 9-11-0-0(-0-0) Chord 2 = F#-major: 14-16-0-0(-0-0) Chord 3= B-major/Eb: 11-14-0-0(-0-0) I put the two high strings in brackets ( ), since you kinda wanna avoid playing them; Make sure to only play the top 4 strings, even though I guess it's fine if the two high strings can be kinda heard a little bit as well - it's the same thing in the studio version and at the QVC event too. You can kiiiinda hear them, but not too clearly. If you play them too loudly, it'll make the second and third chord sound a little dissonant... Hope that helps :)
