Fantastic. well done. Seeing you save great old machines like this really cheers me up. Also love how you don't restore them to death, which happens to so many cars. real old cars, brought back to life and DRIVED as they are - absolute perfection.I've done a similar thing on a smaller scale here in UK - pulled a '58 Wolseley police car from a yard and use it as my daily driver - films all on my channel.Great work, great films, thank you!

Actually, the Kaiser was the lower-priced model, and Frazer was considered top of the line. Unfortunately, I remember these cars from "back in their day". They were rock solid and built to last, though, as you are finding out, which is what everybody "back in the day" already knew. There was a KF dealer in Tonica, IL, (look that up on your Rand McNally) who sold quite a few of these cars until KF folded
@Postmandougie19709 жыл бұрын
I remember those cars from Stan's yard; he wanted too much money when I was interested in them, I was going to try and build the blue one. In retrospect, it's just as well it didn't pan out...

Henry J.'s solution to model year overproduction was to remove and replace the old serial number plate with one of the current year and name them "special" with very little or no changes. This might explain items like the 4 vs. the 2 bumper guards you showed on the 2 identical Kaisers.

The Special was a more deluxe version. The Darien script on the trunk was deleted after the supply of pre punched lids were exhausted. The way to tell a '47 from a '48 Kaiser is the script. The '47 had individual letters for K A I S E R whereas the '48 the letters are connected K_A_I_S_E_R. Early '47s only had 2 bumper guards on the front. The '47s had the 'Darrin Styled' script on the deck lid and only the early '48s did. It was brought back on the '51s. Only the earliest '47 Kaisers have "KAISER" on the hub caps. The rest of the '47 and '48s are simple moon style with no markings.
